60 day Termination notice this week - Found a place
Well, my roommate finally ticked off the landlady and property manager. We've been on time with all the bills, but he just had to push them too far.

I don't know if it was over the hot water heater - or if it's because he added an extra lock, and prevented the property manager from coming in at will.

What happened was this: there was a subterranean termite invasion in March, I found the nest, it was under the electric hot water heater! They kept swarming, throughout the house, and because I have artwork & such, we kept having to vacuum, spray & bug bomb the place until the exterminator came. I found something over the counter that helped a little, but couldn't stop them, obviously. While this was going on, I noticed there was damage to the hot water heater, it had corrosion. I told the roommate that it was going to go. He laughed at me.

Well, I found water on the living room floor a week later, and it was all inside the closet. I told him it wasn't strapped down right, in violation of a few laws, too. We had to buy emergency flex pipes & such, and fix it in the middle of the night. Well, termites corroded the bottom.

So, property manager sent over 3 different plumbers. Problem: you have to LEGALLY vent the new electric heaters OUTSIDE, or can cause a fire! She refused to pay them to do this. I told roommate, let her do what she wants, then we report her, and have the law come down on her, for endangering OUR LIVES, she gets fined, and it gets fixed. Meanwhile, we have ticking timebomb on the first floor!

Well, my roommate decided he didn't like the brick fascade of the fireplace, and wanted to take a ball peen hammer to it. I told him POINT BLANK you can't do that, we don't own this place! He said, all the more reason to do it. Against MY orders, he knocked the walls around it out. Left it in, but left it a wreck, because he wanted to build a closet next to it. Well, he found out removing bricks was hard, and had to rebuild some of it, because you cannot DO THAT.

Property Manager emails him, says Plumber coming the next day; he tosses on an additional deadbolt she doesn't have a key too, to prevent her from coming in, and emails her back, he'll be teaching at school, too soon for him to get off from teaching!

Well, I was asleep alone, and sure enough, SHE comes by, and WITHOUT knocking, tries to walk in!! I heard the tumblers going, and door shaking. I think she looked in one slat in the front window, and saw the bricks smashed on the fireplace!

Well, she left, never left a note. According to the letter of the law, she can ONLY walk in, if it's an emergency...roommate didn't want plumber here, unless he was here - see, he wants gas, she wants electric; I DO NOT CARE, get something in there that works safely!

2 weeks later, given the 60 day notice, ILLEGALLY. She rang the doorbell, I didn't answer it, roommate was at work. She shoved it into the mail slot (only mailman allowed to do that). Next day, came in regular mail. It's legally supposed to be hand delivered, or certified mail.

Basically, we just aren't wanted here. Roommate is putting the fireplace back together this weekend, so he has a leg to stand on, with drywall, and nice tile around the opening on the fireplace, up to code (actually looks modern). HE claims lease says he can do anything...I'm tired of living in a construction zone.

Area has become high crime area, my car was broken into a few days ago, with burglar tools. Stole car cleaning stuff.

NOW my real problem: my boyfriend & I are BOTH on Unemployment, no one in their right mind is going to rent to us. He's trying to find a job. I wish he'd get one in LA, closer to my best friend. Or in San Diego, closer to my relatives (I just found out my mentally handicapped cousin was raped by her best friend's mother's boyfriend last year - and he's in prison now...she was all over me at the family reunion today. I KNEW there was something wrong, she was hanging on me, and wouldn't stop touching my arm, for 2 hours).

We don't have anywhere to run...everyone has already doubled, tripled and quadrupled their living quarters up.

I have 2 cats, and one foster kitty, who's as sick as me.

I'm doing my best to stay focused, and finishing artwork, so I can get work, as freelance again. Still limited to 25 hours a week, since I'm still sick.

Anyway, I need to keep my mind calm, keep my pain under control, and just free my mind to get the work done! Now it feels like a chore...I love to draw sooo much, but I'm freezing up from anxiety, so much is on my shoulders.

The termination lands almost on my birthday...Aug. 3rd.

I just need to keep it all together, and go to my court date on my case for my accident that caused my FM, and go the convention, and have my art ducks in a row, and make a big hit...

I'm so scared, I've been defeating myself.

Just need to pull my self confidence back together to where it was, before it went away. I used to believe in myself, and all worked fine, and I had all the work I wanted. Need to be there again.

Need to stop being desperate, find my center, and fly with it.

{{{hugs}}}

Julie

Re: 60 day Termination notice this week
I hope everything works out for you. It sounds like things are a real night mare over there. goodthing about all nightmares is you eventauly wake up from them. Thats just the I look at things in my life. I dunno maybe it can help you maybe it can't. I hope though that having a few friends around here that understand you and wont judge you will help you get through this rough time. I hope that things start going your way.

aww, sweety...
l'm sorry to hear you're going through this shit..
your roommate sounds like a royal jerk, tho. god, knocking bricks outta the fireplace? ouch... anyway, l hope you can get somewhere with the artwork...just be confidant in yourself, you already know you can do it... honestly l think the only thing you can do is get better... use anxiety to draw what you're feeling, even if it isn't suitable for any of the work projects... it should at least give you a release valve, right? good luck, hun... and sam (akuma)'s right... you've got friends around here who will neither judge you nor criticise you. so focus on yourself, and do what you need to do.
laurie.

Re: 2nd 60 day Termination notice this week
Laurie, thank you so much for your encouragement!

I have written another story, and the artist on the project loves it. Sadly, no money yet.

And unfortunately, I had started a comic book relief effort for the Katrina victims, then we were LEGALLY given another 60 day termination notice 2 weeks ago. I have to hurry up and finish my story & art. We are donating ALL the profits to the Louisiana Help charity, and the ClintonBushKatrina Charity.

I hope it also helps to put me back on the radar. I have other artists joining in, so I'm not doing the book all alone. Lots of fresh young talent! It's from the heart, so only good should come of it.

It now costs $1000 - $1200 a month just for a one bedroom, depending on location. That's for a good neighborhood. We can't move out of state, we are rather bound to Southern California area.

Please pray things will turn out okay for us and the cats, with a place to live! Persians are very sensitive and will tolerate moving as long as their Humans are with them. These girls are very well litterbox trained, and loving and playful, ranging from 3 1/2 - 11 years old. It's endearing to see the older one play with the baby! They keep me sane.

Found a place
Within a few days of having to be out, found a place. I did speak with the property manager, and found out we could've stayed - if we were willing to sign a year lease, and take over the whole place. Just couldn't risk it, but nice to know my credit report is okay. Guess some day I will have to rebuild it.

Not what I wanted, but two rooms in a huge house. We may have to give up the 2nd room in December, but the Bedroom is big enough to put my drafting table and computer desk into, if we have to.

Cats love the place, I just round them up when I'm not out.

My neck (the 5 herniated discs), hurt 7/10 + daily, but I expect that to subside as time passes. I never realized when you lift, it puts pressure on your neck, oh my! My herniated discs in lumbar are acting up less, thank goodness. Bending knees right probably helped that.

I did get lots of icky bruises, and one funny one: on my throat. Looked like someone tried to strangle me, but it was from helping to move the big cat land's house, and I was given too heavy of a side, and it hit me in the throat for a moment.

I hope I can find a job or something, nothing has panned out all year. That's why we may have to give up the other room, I can't pull my weight right now. But I'm trying to find parttime work I can do, and still looking at art jobs.
