A Challenge
Hmmm. Another year almost finished. Was it a good one? Depends on what you value. Two people can have the same experience and one will call it good while the other will call it bad.
"If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you always got". I don't know who said that but it makes sense. If 2003 wasn't a good year for you...don't let it happen again in 2004. It really is that simple.
Oh sure, there are inumerable external forces that affect your life....most of which you can not control. But you are the only one who can control your outlook and attitude.
I've got some challenges for you:
1. Do something you really enjoy at least once a week. That's a bare minimum, once a day is better.
2. Meditate. You'll be surprised at how little you know about yourself and what really goes on in your head.
3. Look directly into someones eyes and say "thank you"... and really mean it. Do this as often as you can. It makes a better day for both people involved.
4. Give. Anything at all. A compliment, a squeeze of the hand, a bit of your time, a buck or two...whatever.
5. Don't be so hard on yourself. You're human. You make mistakes. Don't beat yourself up.
6. Play a musical instrument every day. Don't say you can't. It doesn't have to be a trumpet or piano or guitar. Go to a reputable instrument store and get a good harmonica. Even the good ones are not expensive. pick up a "How to play" book while you're there.
7. Remember that there are people right here on U&D that care about you.
I guess that's enough challenges. Here's to a kick-ass fantastic 2004!
Oh...almost forgot....
Thank you. I really mean it.

Ah yes, a place of peace. It's always right there within you...but is easily overlooked when you're preoccupied with escaping the swirling water. Often the best way is to simply lay back and float on top of the current instead of fighting the current. You'll find yourself rested and re-energized for whatever may come next.

9. Every time you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror, either by accident or on purpose, smile. And I don't mean one of those shy, fleeting smiles either. Give yourself a great, big cheeseball grin. Smiling makes you feel good - smiling at yourself makes you feel even better.
manniac, DeShaz - Thank you.
