A tale from Elnador... It was many years ago, in the Age of Kings, when the mortal world was young, that a fate such as this befell two young lovers...
On the Golden Isle there lived a wizened old king and his beautiful young daughter. The man was ancient, and his wife had died, leaving him in charge of not only his kingdom, but his young child. She grew up as a lonely princess, having no siblings, mother, or friends to play with. On the day that my story begins, she was a young woman already. Lovely as the day she was born, and quite restless.
Her hair was as golden as the rays of the sun, and her eyes green, like the sea that she had dwelt by all of her life. Her beauty was marveled by all who looked upon her, and, being a princess, young noblemen from the mainland would often come to ask for her hand. She always refused.
Once, it is said, when the day was quiet and slow, she spoke to her father as they walked on the shore.
"I want to see the mainland, father," she told him. "I often have dreams that call me to it. I can sense my destiny leading me there. I can feel that it is where I shall find my true love."
Her father was saddened, but not angered or suprised by this news. "You have lived by in the sea all of your life, and never seen it. Why should I let you go there alone?"
"It calls to me, father. I can feel the pain in my heart worsening with each passing day that I am forced to stay on the island."
"And what would you do if I let you go there, Crystaliana? You no nothing of life beyond the palace walls."
"I could learn about friendship, love, and everything else that I have been denied in life," she said simply. "And I plan on going with or without your blessing."
The king watched the weaves go in and out a few moments before responding. "Fine, then," he said at last. "I will let you go. But only if you promise to return within a year."
"Thank you, father!" She said, and hugged him. She packed to leave as soon as they reached the palace.
Early the next morning Crystaliana eagerly boarded a ship heading to Blue Rock, a city on the coast. After sailing for a week they landed. She looked back over the ocean the day they landed and watched the sun rising. Thinking of her home for only a moment she wondered if it had been wise to leave so quickly.
The land she was on was strange to her, with filthy beggers in the streets, dingy buildings with unfriendly inhabitants. The fog that day left all the air aroung the city in a gloomy, impenatrable haze. A sense of fear grew in her as she walked down the street in search of an inn. She found an ugly brick building called "The Sunken Treasureship".
She got a room for the night, and ate and drank little, feeling slightly sick for home. She sat by the fire that night, tired, but not wanting to sleep, listening to a story-teller who was staying there as well. He spoke of monsters, dragons, wild people of the woods, and lost treasures and magic. So enchanted was she, that she decided to go on an adventure such as that the very next morning.
She packed everything that she needed, and took with her two horses as she travelled into the forset outside of Blue Rock, but, as she left the city, she saw the tower for wich the city was named: Blue Rock Spire. Gazing at it for a moment, she wondered why someone would every want to build something so great, only to abandone it. At the last moment, she changed her mind and walked to the tower instead of staying on the mein road.
The tower stood high abover her as she walked up to its steel doors. Few people came up there, hearing stories of robbers and ghosts. Crystalania, having heard none of these, calmly walked the the grove of trees surrounding it. She was stopped by a voice.
"Who goes there?" said a young man who simply seemed to appear on the path ahead of her.
"My name is Crystalania," she replied. "And you are?"
He stepped out from under the shadow of the trees, and she saw a handsome young man, not much older than she, with black hair and eyes that matched the towering structure behind him.
"I am the gaurdian of the tower. What is your business here?"

Re: A tale from Elnador...
"I am simply an explorer, good sir," she replied. "I have heard interesting tales about this tower and-"
"You are not permitted to pass."
Crystaliana, shocked at being denied what she thought of as being a simple request (indeed, she had never been denied anything she had wanted before in her life), said angrily, "Not permitted to pass?!"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because you have no business here."
"I told you my business."
"You said you were an explorer. That is a lie."
"What makes you say that?"
The boy folded his arms and looked her up and down. "You're dressed more to go to a formal banquet for one thing. You don't carry any real equipment, or anything even resembling a weapon."
"Why should I need to?" she asked him.
He walked up closed. "The lands are strange to you and quite dangerous."
"I can take care of myself." She attempted to walk past him, and he simply stepped into her way. Undaunted she tried to pass the other way, but he blocked her again. "Will you kindly get out of my way."
"Of cousre not."
"Why not?"
"Are you hard of hearing? I told you that you are not permitted to pass!"
