Re: A taste of spring...
A new camera indeed, and i'm happy to admit to being stunned at some of the quality shots it's taken, even with a hack like me at the controls
My big plan is to purchase a good telephoto lens and get some good wildlife photographs - that kite above for example would have been stunning taken at 300mm, really would have mind-blowing detail (the above pic was taken at 55mm)

It's a Nikon D50, entry level digital SLR by today's standards but would have cost thousands just a few years ago, such is the pace of development in this field. I was getting by with my Sony Cybershot but when I saw the price of the Nikon I bought one because i've always wanted something professional - it was less than £400 quid with lens and with memory card, they must be cheaper than chips in the US
Re: A taste of spring...
I've been lusting after the Nikon D70 which is, I think, around $1000 ... But why stop there when I could fantasize about spending twice as much on the body only of a D200 (and I can't tell why I'd want to).
The photos really look good and the D50 looks like it runs around $600-700 here which is slightly more within fantasy range.

Here are a few more – bear in mind these are just happy snaps, hand held, the fish through glass no less, as I run through some of the settings and get to know the machine a wee bit…
