After the Coronation
((OOC: I wrote this out of boredom and what I am guessing is a fruitless hope that Josh will take the time to respond. Anyways, it’ll give us something to do while we wait for everyone to get caught up on the main plot (HINT HINT.) Oh, and I'm sorry the title sucks.))

It was nearly dawn before Alaren and Saker returned to their rooms, and despite the late-or early- hour, they could hear the festivities continuing outside the palace walls without them. Escaping the crowds of people had been a tricky ordeal; the partygoers could not have enough of their new sovereigns, it seemed, and would have gladly kept the King and Queen amongst them until the sun had risen and longer, if Alaren had not eventually surrendered to her own exhaustion (and to Saker’s desire to be alone with her) and announced their leave. As it was, the hallways were empty. Everyone was either in the streets or in bed asleep, a state which Alaren was anxiously awaiting. She could hardly find the energy to put one foot in front of the other as she and Saker made their way back to their rooms, and she knew her warder was just as tired; he had slept very little the night before, and Alaren… well, Alaren had not slept soundly in months, and the sleepless night before had pushed her beyond exhaustion.

Alaren’s servants were waiting outside her door as she and Saker walked past, the women’s faces alight with excitement at the return of their Queen. Alaren bade them into her own room before Saker had the chance to send them away, as she knew he would. She knew full well through the bond how much he wanted to be alone with her, but she knew equally well how long it had taken her to be stuffed and pinned into the dress she now wore, and she suspected that, without the help of her servants, it would take her twice as long to take the bloody thing off. Besides, as it was, Alaren was far too tired to lie with him in any manner save the literal; it took every shred of her willpower to not collapse into her neatly-prepared bed the moment she stepped into the room. She restrained herself, and allowed the servants to help her out of the gown and into a clean, cool cotton nightdress (which she had not previously known existed) and to brush her dark tresses down from their plaits. Unlike her servants that morning, these girls were surprisingly efficient, and in the end Alaren was grateful for their aid.

Once the servants had left, Alaren approached the connecting door, pausing as she had before with her hand on the knob. This was where she had stood the night before (had it been so recently? It seemed a lifetime (“Or at least seven months and ten days,” Lauren remarked in passing)), terrified of being alone, equally terrified of being with the man she loved. There were parts of her that were still unsure, that still trembled with nerves as she opened the door to his room. Last night had opened a whole spectrum of problems and possibilities, and they would have to be addressed at some point or another. She stepped into his room and gently closed the door behind her.

A decision
Alexia stared at the pillow next to her yawning slightly. It was dawn and she had not slept since the day before. Her head was filled with questions and unwanted emotions she had no time to analyze.

The coronation of Saker and Alaren had been something she was surprised she could stomach. The cheering and well wishing made her extremely ill at ease. It became so bad that she left early in the night. One of the Asha’man came with her but since she knew the man it was acceptable and she paid him as much attention as a shadow.

Alexia made her way to the courtyard first she needed some open space. She soon found out that it was the busiest place to celebrate the new King and Queen. As she pushed her way through the crowd her anger nearly hit the breaking point. A man grabbed her arm to dance and she nearly slammed him with Air. When she noticed she had held Saidar she felt ashamed and danced with him for a moment before getting away. Once she found a place that was quiet and deserted she sat on the ground not caring about the white dress she wore and stared at the people. They were happy and Alexia could not fault the words Raekal had told her before she left.

It did not quell her anger.

The hundreds of Andorans mixed in the celebration were traitors of Andor, as was their new King and Queen. The thought alone fueled her fury but it was misplaced. As she hugged her knees to her chest Alexia looked on the crowd and for the first time in her life wished she could abandon her much loved duty to the Tower.

A sigh escaped her as she turned to lie on her back. The memory of that caused her to dread leaving the room. The White Tower would expect her to make some sort of good impression toward the new royals on their behalf. She had not spoken to Alaren in years and was sure any sort of conversation may be stilted and uncomfortable. As for Saker she could not see any sort of conversation being held about the White Tower between the two of them going well.

As she stared into space she wondered what she would do next. Hiding was not an option and her pride would not allow her to do it for much longer. She sat up and hurried to her washstand. She hurried through her toilet and the started to get dressed. She would make a decision soon but for now she will carry out her duties to the Tower. Se rang for a servant and asked them to carry a message to Alaren. As soon as it was acceptable she would like to speak with the Queen of Manetheren.
