Alabaster Girl
Alabaster girl.
Your little sense of helplessness as I hold you in my world.
A frightened bird in a cage of my fingers.
Heartbeat shivers.
Uncertainty lingers.

Should I dare disturb your lilting song, pale Angel?
Carried to my ears upon gossamer airs and hidden soft among my pages
That I thumb, listening to dangers,
The orchestra of ages.

Your purity, your everness, lies crystal, unsurpassed.
To taste of it, to find for myself what sweetness flows
Is the eternal demand of my heartbeat fast,
And Lo! The choir grows.

Re: Alabaster Girl
A friend of mine just read this, and told me that the first two lines reminded her of Billy Joel's 'Uptown Girl' :(

I lie dejected :lol

Heh, I just tried to sing the first two lines to myself to Joel's upbeat pop masterpiece. Highly amusing!

Good poem though. From personal to universal as it progresses. I like the understated rhyme scheme too.

:hat
