This next one is a real 'oddity'
A word of explanation: A wheely-bin is a Trash-can? with wheels to make em easier to move around. A Quid is another word for a Pound
The Secret Life of Wheely-bins
Has anyone ever wondered about our wheely-bins?
They’re just filled them up with rubbish and evidence of sins
It is rare they get a wash, and rarer still a shine
If thought about at all, we glance, ‘It’s there, it must be fine’
They’re not treated like our dogs and taken for a walk
Most times we ignore them and keep them in the dark
We bump them; we bash them, and often slam the lid
And never, ever say ‘ That was good, here’s a quid’.
But when they’re not about, oh what a hue and cry
Then we hear ‘Who took it?’, ‘Where does the culprit lie’
With much ado the streets are searched, until the bin is found
It was cowering in a corner, making not a sound.
In full view of every one, it’s dragged home in disgrace
It is pushed, yanked and finally dumped back in its ‘place’
You can see the owner’s face ‘ That will teach it sense’
Then he slams shut his gate, or ties it to his fence.
But as some of us do know, bins have a secret life
Away from all our rubbish and all domestic strife.
They’re like hob-nobs and goblins, coming out at night
Scheming and plotting to whom they’ll give a fright.
They pay back the sinners for their lack of thought and care
They all come out at night and ideas do compare.
Bins think of lots of ways to make sinners lives a pain
They incite their kids to misbehave and go against the grain
It’s mis-treated and abused bins that scatter broken glass
It’s them that make mushrooms grow in the middle of grass.
They give babies toothache and let car tyres down
They care not a jot where, be it village or town
The evidence is plain, its there for all to see,
Those who mis-treat wheely-bins do not live care free
If any of the above has ever happened to you
Then there’s only one thing you can effectively do.
Go find your wheely-bin, and be very, very nice,
And every time you pass it, make sure you hug it twice.
