How many of you have been frustrated by the continual slowness on the boards? How about the recurring outages? Or the fact you have to be a ezsupporter to take advantage of some of the cooler features that ezboards has to offer?
Well after a few years of dealing with this frustration Nancy and Betsy have decided to make some BIG changes and take back control of hosting the boards! If you remember years ago, when we were much smaller, the sites were fast, always up, but lacked the fun features we have grown to love. Well with a few years of planning, and a corporate headquarters now in the works we are returning to the days of old where WE had control over our network and will now have new and IMPROVED boards for all sites!
The target date is end of May to relocate all of the She Knows Network to our own servers (no more ezbottlenecks or ezoutages), and we will be running Vbulletin software to manage the sites
Some of our features will include:
~ Control of the servers, so we will be responsible for are any outages, downtime, etc (which there should NEVER be). If there are issues WE can react immediately.
~ User name choices and flexibility. Since everyone will be starting fresh, you will get to create your name of choice! You will not be limited by 1000s of other ezusers across their entire network having already selected the user name you wanted. Current VB users will need to register on the new boards as well, since VB sites do not carry over user names like EZ since they independently hosted.
~ EMPOWERMENT! YOU control whether you want to view others signatures, avatars, etc while reading posts. So if your system or connection is slower, you can turn off and speed up your page load time easily!
~ Faster replying. When replying to a topic no need to hit reply and wait for yet another page to load. You reply in the field at the bottom of each post you view.
~ Ignore this will allow you to ignore posts by recurring problem members.
There are a few other VERY cool things that we are hoping to incorporate, however until those are confirmed I do not want to announce them.
As I have already mentioned, this is expected to happen by end of May, but it could be a bit later depending on the completion of the network. I am VERY excited that we can finally be free from much of the frustration that we have all experienced, and am looking forward to our new and improved boards!
