Boise, ID show 11/4/06
I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but I'd never heard of Eliot Morris until 11/3/06.

Ticketweb emails me when new artists come to the Boise area, and on 11/3/06 I received an email that Ari Hest would play The Big Easy at 8:00 pm the evening of November 4th and Eliot Morris would open for him. I'd never heard of Ari either :o , so I clicked on the links provided in the email to listen to a few samples. I love old-fashioned finger-pickin acoustic guitar, and Ari's music sounded like it was right up my alley. I bought a ticket for myself and my best friend.

When Eliot started to play I was completely blown away. Not only is he beautiful, his music touched me in a way music rarely does, and I wasn't the only one: people shouted how awesome he was and begged him to keep playing despite the fact that he was done with his set and Ari was ready to come on stage.

I enjoyed Eliot's music so much (better than Ari, although Ari was good, too). I guess this means I'm now an official Eliot Morris fan :) .

Thanks so much, Eliot, for coming to Boise and sharing your amazing talent and beautiful music with us. I'll spread the word about you and I hope you become hugely famous. You deserve it.

Best wishes,

Shannon

sounds about right
Thanks for sharing your story! I don't think your experience is at all unique... many people have discovered Eliot through is opening sets and have been blown away by his writing and voice. It's great to hear that others have stumbled upon him and are willing to spread the word.

Oh, and can I say how cool it is that you went to a show knowing so very little about either of the performers! The music industry needs more adverturous people like you.

Re: sounds about right
measure71,

Thanks for admiring my "adventurous" spirit. Artistically speaking I'm always up for something new, and I've discovered some amazing musicians this way (David Wilcox immediately comes to mind).

It never ceases to amaze me how many gifted artists there are out there living in virtual obscurity. Eliot is one of these, but hopefully not for long. My first thought when I heard him play was, "How can it be that this guy isn't all over the radio?" It just doesn't seem right.

Personally I love small venues (there was maybe 50 people there last night). They are very intimate, and you just don't get that at some of the bigger shows. And I'm glad that my "adventurous" spirit led me stumbling across Eliot's path. :)

Best wishes,

Shannon
