"Anyone familiar with the Romanian orphanage scandals of the early Nineties will have stared in shocked disbelief that nearly 20 years on precisely the same pattern of appalling cruelty and neglect is being repeated in another former Communist state," says the author Gerard O'Donovan. "The chief difference is that Bulgaria is already a member of the European Union." According to the author of the article "it is no exaggeration to say that most domestic animals are treated better than the unfortunate boys and girls from "a social care home" for physically and mentally disabled children in northern Bulgaria. "At times it was impossible to believe the cynicism of the staff. At others, it was impossible not to turn away from the pain and suffering on display. Nothing on television this year has brought me closer to tears," he concludes. The staff is poorly paid, as a result they don't care, steal and distribute everything valuable from the donations among themselves, children get crumbs from what they should really do and so it goes in a vicious circle. A strong control and immediate firing of all administration is needed so the matters could be directed in a more positive way.

First of all, how do you know if I am descendent of Janissaries? I am not. Turkish raiders used to live close to the borders. I think we are descendents of those. But who knows may be I am even descendent of Kumans or Pecheneks with very mild Bulgarian mix (proto bulgarians- the sons of Han Isperih, not slavs). BTW as you may know janissaries were of Bulgarian, Sirbian or Greek blood... Not Turkish. They were corrupted people. Why? Who knows may be it runs in the genes? Nothing to do with Turks. But I agree it was bad way of enrolling soldiers for Ottoman empire. One the worst mistakes of Ottoman rule. But they did their revenge and helped for the collapse of the empire. So, be with peace with janissaries, probabaly they helped you more than Russians to get your indepedance... The Turks in Bulgaria are descendents of Ottomans, those who you curse everyday. Muslim Turks are not Bulgarians as you tried to present them. No matter how much you tried to convert us you didn't succeed. You can't deny that. I agree that many Bulgarian Turks have corrupted moral values, too. This is a result of your socialist past. After all it was the socialist government who banned the religion (closed the mosques), fined, emprisoned, sent to exile the people who practices any Muslim customs. What do you expect? But you should know that in Islam orphans have very special place. It is repetedly mentioned in Kuran that orphans need to be treated nice and those who steal or comsume their rightous possessions go to Hell. Now you lack that kind of moral obligation...
