Cinnimon ornaments for yule: Sabbat/holiday crafts
Hey hey..
this is a little goodie I discovered last year.. around Yule tide
you take 2 cups of cinniimon..( you can mix with ground clove and all spice too any of the brown sweet spices of the same consitaincy ) if you want to make a larger batch.. just use more wet..re below
then mix in applesause a tablespoon full at a time...two or three at most.. mix after each add till you have a very stiff dough in your hands...
then roll out to about 1/2 inch thick... and cut out in shapes.. smaller simple ones work best... just like making cookies
if you make them too large.. then tend to bend and warp as they dry...place em on any cookie sheet as you make them
while its still wet.. poke a hole with a tooth pick somewhere near a side but far enough in to be solid....to put in a wire or string later....you can also impress lines dates or shapes much as you would cookies... but not too deep.. I do runes myself..
then dry them... in a very very low over.. like 150 degrees till they harden... mine are still about and those that ive not used yet... are still smelling wonderful a year later as Ive kept them sealed in a jar all this time..
they also make great air freshers for the car the closet etc...
and the left overs little bits left over from the cuts i use as scents for sacets.. in my sock drawer...in the pottopri pot.. you can see all kinds of uses...
Cinnimon is very protective as well.... as a magical herb it has many uses... so it becomes charm if you so choose as well as decoration
makeing them with the applesause alone makes them kid safe.. as they could eat them if they got their hands on them with none the worse for wear...if kids are not an issue you can add a tiny amount of white glue as part of the wet.. and when they dry they will be much harder.. I do this when makeing charms of them...
enjoy

THank you, Starwind! I have been looking for something I could make easily (as time is a consideration). I dearly love the smell of cinnamon throughout the house, especially at this time of year.

Nay prob.. I found dependant on how dry the cinnon is.. ya can need a lot more of applesause.. ya get to about cookie dough shape. do just add applesause till you get there..be mix well after each add....... it can fool you..... you want it....like you would sugar cookies...so use as much as need be.... then roll out and off you go.. you can use reglaur cookie cutters. but i just just a glass and make moons and cresents.. I tried larger trees.. but they bent .. a lot drying.. so stick to smaller simple shapes like moons and stars.. and your good to go....
Im gonna make some more this year the one I hung in the car needs replacing...

pam or flour the roller.. just like you would cookiesm or just just use a glass as your roller... with a drop of oil on it.. sounds like ya might need more or less wet in it.. it should stick too much...
