 Community History and Banning Policy
Ok, Figured since we have more people then we started with I had better post The policy before we get a new crop of friends to come play!! This is in no way a warning... was simply on my mind so I figured I would bring it up... noone in particular is is mind so dont worry lol When we started , this policy was pretty much understood by th 12 we started with... now that we are nearing 50... I figured writing it down would be a good idea.
To give you all a little background, COTES was began as a group effort. Founding members were all made moderators because we had a common goal... and I think we have successfully obtained that goal. What we wanted was to create a community where we could play, bitch, be ourselfs and just generally kick around without judgement. We also wanted a safe place to learn and teach.
Because Cotes was began as a group effort, banning and membership problems are handled the same way. If there is a problem with a member, the moderators will be asked to take a poll annonomously to decide the membership of a community member who is being unneccessarily disruptive. Only admins can CALL the vote, but all moderators feedback are taken into consideration when deciding this. You will not be put to vote without prior warning... If Joe Schmoo is causing problems (being judemental and causeing an unusually high amount of arguements, being disrespectfull... common human curtosies, nothing difficult) He will be asked in the answering machine to please go to the coat closet. Members will voice concerns without personal attacks, and EVERYONE will be heard. If a resoloution cannot be found, Joe will be put on notice. If he still is being a community pain in the ass, Myself or Esta will call a vote in the moderators section... Joe will be warned VIA PM this is happening and will be notified within 3 days as to the results.
It is unreasonable to expect a community which is growing at the rate in which ours is to expect there will be NO differences of opinon... thats actually encouraged. However from time to time we may get a complaint and If I get 3 or more "Gaia will you please talk to him/her 's" I will ask the person to go to the answering machine and check to see if there is a problem. If there isnt then its let go forever and good... so far it has ONLy been miscommunications. Lets face it honestly, when your typing.... there is no mouth filter. It is so easy to post things in a context different the what you meant to say especially if its something you feel very passionately about. These things happen. Misunderstanding is a part of life. I can get bitchy once a month and have been called on it myself Thats why we keep hillclimber around to keep the peace lol So if you are asked to the answering machine, dont sweat it, consider it like this... we are a large family in a single bed, shifting to make room for everyone...someones bound to get an accidental foot in the eye lol It dosent mean your going to be put on notice nor does it mena that you are being labeled the problem child (problem child is Amber Lous role in the community hehehe) Just that there may have been an issue and we wanted it resolved before it had a chance to grow.
Also, membership policies are changing. We are nearing our goal number and I am about to close the doors for a while and not accept any new members. The exception is friends and family members of current members in good standing. In good standing means simply that you are active, are not currently on notice or Poll pending and Have 40 + posts. Just be sure to give me the heads up on pending applications. Remember to supply me with a name as well.
Ok... this post took a tone that was more serious then what I am comfortable with... but now its alllllllll out there with no future suprises.

i thought i was the trouble child. aren't i the youngest here?
anyways, i do not see a mod forum. what exactly is the mod forum called. sometimes i miss forums because i dont know the exact name of them. (the only issue with creative names though i love those creative names, makes it hard to navigate sometimes.)
it is good to make sure that with the volume of folks here that all understand the basis for this forum. i also think it is good that the doors be shut for a tick to make sure that those that have joined can reach a level of comfort with everyone else before adding to our ranks. this forum has been the most successful yet, i would to see it stay that way. especially if many of us end up living together with the whole commune idea. i REALLY like this idea. and pray and support anyway i can.
