Council Of Ministers Re-Creates Privatization Commission
26 December 2005 (Baghdad: Al Sabah newspaper) -- The Council of Ministers has decided to recreate the Privatization Commission, which is to be chaired by the Prime Minister and the membership of the Ministers of Industry, Planning, Finance, and Trade and will have a wider authority.
This was affirmed in a press release by Engineer Osama Abdul Aziz AL Nejafi, the Minister of Industry, who said that this step was being taken by the Economic Committee following a two-month study and a request by the Ministry of Industry, the largest Iraqi proprietor of public companies.
He added that the Commission will be responsible for the drafting of a new Investment Law in Iraq as well as for looking into the possibility of privatization of the entire public sector and its companies through a clearly defined working plan in accordance with the new economic transformation of Iraq.
