Dark Dreams (attn aran and anyone else interested...)
The sky was dark with rolling clouds, the wind whipping through the treetops. Rain, as if blown from afar, fell in sporadic fat drops, splattering people as they ran quickly through the streets below, trying to get back home before the storm hit, and it promised to be quite a good one. The heat was oppressive, as well, so the air seemed turned to steam, muggy and heavy. At least the wind brought a breath of fresh air, of light, cool air, to the people. Lightning flickered in the distance, thunder echoing through the sky.

Seia stood in the middle of the road before the barracks. He had his back to the building but could sense the curious eyes on his back regardless.. the eyes of his inquisitive, weird roommate. He still wasn't sure where she had come from. He effortlessly formed the void within himself, and let the feelings course through him. His closed his vivid green eyes, let the feeling of the storm flow through him as the rain began to fall in earnest, like a wall moving across the Tower. He watched it come, an endless torrent, and grasped for saidin.

Feeling it burn it's way through him, he fumbled for control of his flows, channeling a spearhead of air before and over his head. The rain split, turned away from him by his invisible barrier, and close again behind him. His eyes closed and he concentrated on holding the glows steady and firm. It was amazing, really, what the power of saidin was. Not even rain, that soaked everything, went everywhere, could touch him with saidin. He felt, if he could do it, that he could channel the storm away, push it somewhere else. But he lacked the power, the defined control.

Slowly, he began to walk backwards, his shield moving with him. when he reached the shelter of teh barracks, he let the shield dissapate, and saidin rush it's way out of him. He turned around to see three other Soldiers watching him.

"Impressive," one said, his eyes wide. "I've been here three weeks longer than you and and I still can't grasp saidin. How did you do that?"

Seia let his hard stare slide to the one that had spoken. How could he explain his need, his desire to right the wrongs in the world? How could he tell this fool about Kairi, and the injustices she had suffered because no one had cared? How could he let anyone know what his heart was like?

"I am driven."

The Soldiers parted for him, letting him stalk past on his way to his room. Once inside, he sat on his bed, and noticed Bridgette watching him closely. She was sitting cross-legged on her bed, her spiky black hair still sticking in all directions. Her dark eyes bored into his own when he met her gaze. She smiled, brightly, sincerely. He wished every once in a while that he could manage such a sincere smile himself. But of course, he could not. He never smiled anymore. Not really. She was dressed in an alluring outfit for one so young, a top that left her midriff bare, with a deep V neck that showed off her cleavage. There were no sleeves, but she wore her strange bracelets nonetheless. Her skirt was light, wispy, and hung low on her hips. He could see the impressions of her hip bones above her skirt. It hung to her ankles, but her feet were bare, and she was wearing those odd bracelets around her ankles, as well.

Surveying her quickly, he grunted. "Your father lets you wear that in public?"

She cocked her head to the side as she continued smiling. "No, not really. But I haven't left the room today, and I wanted to be comfortable."

"You didn't go to the library today?" He had discovered in his time with her that she had an insatiable hunger to learn, to read, to absorb every bit of information that she could about the world. So she spent most of her time reading at the library.

"No, I was tired. Besides, you told me last night that you had today to rest."

"So I did.. what does that matter?" he asked, turning from looking at her directly, and putting his back against the head of his bed.

"So, I wanted to go eat lunch with you, on a picnic. But you were gone this morning." She sounded hurt, if anything.

"I was practicing," he answered.

"Oh.. you do that a lot."

"You read a lot."

"Point taken." He heard her rise, but didn't hear her as she walked over to stand next to him. He looked up at her standing next to him. Light, but she was a pretty face. "I worry about you, Seia."

"Why? No one else does."

"Maybe that's why."

He pondered what she had said for a while, but then she bent, pushing her lips against his forehead. They were hot.. and soft. He could only imagine what they would feel like against his own. When she straightened, he fixed her with a cold look. A pretty face was nothing but a deception. Niceness never lasted. There was something that she wanted from him, he was sure of it. "What was that for?"

"For your heart," she said and turned away. He couldn't help but watch her walk away. A flash of lightning outside lit the room, and he could see her form perfectly, through her dress and all. She was shapely, beautiful.. here...

"Don't mean to tell me that you love me," he said sarcastically, sitting up and facing her again.

She looked over her shoulder at him for a moment. "No, I wouldn't tell you that." He frowned. She was so hard to figure out. "When I decide if I do, I intend to show you."

"When you decide?"

"I'm tired.. I'm going to get some sleep. Goodnight, Seia."

"What did you mean?" he demanded, but she blew out the lamp, and their room descended into total darkness. It wasn't that late, yet, but the storm had darkened the sky to nighttime, and without the lamp, there was no light left but for the lightning. It flashed, and he saw her still standing by her bed, but she seemed to have turned to face him. He looked up at the ceilign and blew out a long breath. When the lightning flashed again, he looked over at Bridgette, but she was lying in her bed, her back to him. That was odd. He hadn't heard her climb into her bed. Deciding that he would try to talk to her in the morning, he put his head back against his pillow and closed his eyes. He was indeed very tired...

When his eyes opened again, it was to an entirely different world. He stood atop a rocky peak, overlooking a field of desolation. His breath caught in his throat. Wind ripped at him on his precarious perch, howled in his ears, threatened to send him tumbling downwards to his death far, far below.

And as far as he could see, in every direction, were bodies. He was on an island of destruction, a peak that rose out of the carnage. Hideous beasts laid strewn about, missing limbs, laying in pools of gore. Men had where they had fallen, hacked apart, blood and viscera everywhere. Ruins of men, men and beasts, that had been blasted with the Power lay scattered, unidentifiable as even human or beast. Gore dripped from rocks, coated the ground. Blood ran in rivers down rocky paths.

A lone man came walking through the field of the dead, surrounded in black, his head bowed, a cloak billowing out behind him, the hood pulled down low over his face. He stepped carefully, as if to avoid stepping on the bodies of the fallen. A nearly impossible task, so thick were they in the gorge. Seia opened his mouth to scream at the man, to ask him where he was, how he had got there. Never before had he suddenly yearned for Bridgette's company. Never before had he wanted to see Rodgin standing before him, reprimanding him to be better, to try harder. But the wind whipped and tore at him, yanking away his words before they could form.

As he watched, the hands of the dead rose, clasping at the man's feet, tugging at his cloak, trying to hold him back from going onwards, trying to stop his inexplorable advance. But stop he did not. He walked on as if the dead were not grabbing his ankles, snatching the hem of his cloak, calling out to him from beyond the veil between life and death. Shivers ran in waves through Seia as he watched, helpless, the man stop beneath him. The man stared solidly ahead, and Seia turned to see what he was looking at, and froze.

Where before had laid a wall of bodies, now stood a wall of growling beasts. Drool dribbled down from long snouts, growls echoed through the rocky wasteland. Talons clicked on stone, beaks snapped with clacks. Behind them were specters in black, and behind them taller, more intimdating specters. Men. Men that could channel.

"You will go no further," the one below Seia whispered into the wind. Instead of tearing away his words, they carried them, amplified them, throwing his words out until they boomed through the rocks, shook the dead, and stilled the wall of terror before him. "Your path ends here."

Fire exploded around him suddenly, and vanished as if it never was. Rocks flew through the air. The ground shook as it tried to split open beneath his feet. The man never moved. The rocks exploded, vaporizing in the air, the earth rolled beneath his feet but remained whole. Saidin surged through him in amounts that Seia could not fathom. He almost seemed to glow with it, burn as hot as the sun. He was sure that if he could glow, he would burn hotter than any sun. On the battle raged, saidin ripping and tearing the already battered ground.

More men ran forwards. And more. And more. They began to wear on the man, pushing him to his limits until..

A rock flew through the man's defenses, punching into his stomach, punching out his back. He flew backwards, the sense of saidin swelling dangerously within.

"NOO!" Seia screamed, unable to help, unable to do anything. But the man glanced up at him, and met his eyes. Seia froze. He knew those eyes, had seen them before. They could, would, only belong to one man in this world. Then the world exploded as his death took him, saidin ripping in all directions, incinerating everythign around Seia...

His eyes snapped open abruptly.

"Seia! Seia! Please wake up!" someone was calling, shaking him by the shoulders. He moaned. It was dark. Light. He needed light. Lightning filled the room, and he was staring up into Bridgette's dark eyes. She was kneeling over him. He was laying on the floor, on his side, an arm wrapped around his middle. "Seia! You're awake! What happened?"

Thunder shook the window, the barracks itself. Seia stared uncomprehending up at her in the blinding darkness. "What happened?" he repeatedly numbly.

"You screamed like someone was killing you and rolled out of bed. You've been laying here for a good ten minutes, thrashing and crying! Tell me what happened! Was it a dream? Was it saidin?"

Suddenly he understood something about her. Something very important. And he remembered what he had seen at the same time. Sitting up quickly, he almost collided with her. She rested a hand on his shoulder, sitting nearly in his lap. "The M'Hael." He whispered. "I need to get to him, I need to see him. Now. It's very important."

"Of.. of course.." she whispered in response. "You want me to come?"

"Do you know the way?"

"Yes, I met him once, my father.. he introduced us."

"Take me, then."

They dashed from the room, Seia yelling for her to hurry. They ran down the hallway, and as they ran outside, she grabbed his hand to keep from losing him. The darkness was oppressive, the rain coming down in hard waves, pounding the two of them as they ran through the street, up the Tower's stairs, and down the hallway, leaving wet spots as the ran ran from their clothes and hair. They reached his office, and Seia pounded on the door. "M'Hael! I must see you! It's important!" he called out through the door. He realized only then that Bridgette's hand was still in his, clasping his own tightly... as he was hers. He let go quickly, glancing over at her. Her usually spiked hair was plastered to her head, dripping continuously. Her top and skirt were soaked. Only then he realized how scantily clad she was. Dressed for sleeping, not a meeting with the M'Hael.. but it was too late. He hit the door with his fist again. "M'Hael, please!" the door swung open, leaving Seia standing in the doorway, dripping a puddle on the smooth marble underfoot.

OOC: just something I kinda thought up for seia and wanted to play with it.. just play along =D

Aran raised his head and frowned at the sudden poundign on his door, it was late; very late indeed. He stood and quickly pulled on the dark green wool coat he had taken to wearing recently. It was all green save the black high collar, on it glittered the two pins in the soft glow of the lone candle on his desk. What in the name of the light was going on that someone was beating on his door at this bloody hour. Whomever it was should be in bed, he should be in bed he realized.

He took a deep breath and ran a hand over the short stubble on his head, no longer did he wear the long braids of Arafel, too many people knew the M'Hael was Arafellin for his liking. So much was on his mind but he cleared his thoughts to see to the matter at hand. What would it be tonight. He cursed Eldrie for getting himself killed and and Raekal for turning into a bloody mad man. Whatever came he was alone to deal with now.

He took a deep breath and opened the door, a severe look on his face. He took the young man in an instant. He was relatively new, but had great potential. He was not sure of his name, something that started with S. The young woman with him was dressed rather provactively, was she his woman? That he was not sure of, nevertheless his frown deepened at her state of attire.

" What in the name of the light is going...," he cut off as he saw the look on the man's face, something was not right.

He motioned them both inside and closed the door behind them. He turned to face the two of them, giving them both a long measuring look before speaking.

" You will tell what has happened, try and give me all the detail you can. By the look of you whatever happened was not pleasant, but you will tell me nonetheless."

Aran crossed his arms and waited for more bad news....

Re: Dark Dreams (attn aran and anyone else interested...)
Seia opened his mouth to reply, but no words spewed forth. He had only met the M'Hael once before, and it had been no where close to this type of situation. For one, he hadn't been dripping all over the floor of the M'Hael's office.

"I... apologize for coming so late," Seia managed after a moment. "But I um.." he faltered again, deciding to study the floor and the growing puddle around his feet rather than the M'Hael's stern eyes. Bridgette's warm palm found his own, giving his hand a squeeze, quiet comfort and support. He glanced at her to see her regarding the M'Hael coolly, calmly. He wondered how she could do it, mustering so much composure, when she was so young, a youth, and soaked to the skin in clothes that could hardly be called such.

"I had a dream, M'Hael," Seia finally found his courage again, that ever-present spark of defiance within that made him stand up to Rodgin so. He looked up at Aran, his eyes stubborn, untrusting. "This wasn't just any dream, M'Hael. It was real. It was like I was in other time, another place, watching, helpless to act. But it was real! I swear it." He paused, as if to give Aran a chance to object to the validity of the dream. When he said nothing, Seia went on. "I was in some rocky place, sitting upon a small rise. There were bodies of men and beasts strewn about, all around. Some slain by steel, some by the Power." He spoke firmly, reliving the horror of his dream.

"As I watched from the rocks, a man walked across the field, and I turned to see where he was going, and there was a wall of ugly beasts and men in black standing in hordes and lines. He told them that they would go no further. They began to fight. Saidin was everywhere.. it was... immense." His eyes glazed with the memory of feeling the Power, the huge waves of it, rolling and bounding through the barren wasteland. "The man fell, and the world seemed to erupt. He did soemthing I had never seen before, nor hope to see again. But before he fell, he looked up, at me. Looked into my soul with his eyes.."

He found himself gripping Bridgette's hand tighter, summoning more courage and strength from her. "I knew him, M'Hael. It was.. it was the First Stormleader. Raekal." He heard Bridgette's sharp intake of breath, and her hand squeezed his almost too painfully. He winced slightly, even as his realization about her grew.

Re: Dark Dreams
Aran regarded Seia silently, calmly before turning to glance out the window into the dark grounds below. From this height the whole of the Tower was spread out before him. He then turned slowly and sat at his desk, hands folded serenely on the dark wood.

He motioned for the two, looking ridiculous soaked to the bone as they were to have a seat in front of him. He took a deep breath and looked at each in turn.

" You have told no one else," he asked and then nodded when they shook their heads," You will keep it so, untill I tell you otherwise, if I tell you otherwise. I have the foretelling did you know that?"

Aran stood as if to say the audience was over, the hour was after all very late.

" If there is nothing else you wish to tell me it is rather late. We will talk about this more another time, unless of course you have something else to say."

He smiled a small smile at their expressions, they had not known. Few in truth did know that piece of information.

" I tell you this because the dream you have told me has the sound of prophecy to it. I belive it to be a true dream though I can not say for sure why. It could be that you are a dreamer, that would be a usefull talent for one of us to have. It may be that. I can not for sure say what the dream does mean but, perhaps with time we will learn it's meaning."

Aran did not say what his thoughts on it were, it was not good to speak such without knowing more.

" I do wish we had another dreamer here to help with your training. As it is you will have to learn on your own. Perhaps we have some books in the library that may help you, perhaps. Your friend I believe spends a good deal of time there, she may be of some help."

Re: Dark Dreams
Seia glanced at Bridgette. There was indeed something more to her than he knew. He thought he knew a lot of it now, and especially since what he had said. He looked at her pale features over his shoulder, her hand clasping his own tightly. He frowned slightly.

"I am ... sure, M'Hael, that this isn't something that I will need much help in. I've had dreams before. I've seen things in them, before." He looked away, at the floor. He hated admitting this. He had never told anyone of his dreams, but then again, he had never seen such a prominent figure die in his dreams, either.

"I will help with what I can, M'Hael," Bridgette said softly, from over his shoulder. Seia turned to look at her, and shook his head slightly.

"I never knew, until now."

"Never knew what?" she asked, cocking her head to the side a bit.

"You said, when we met, that you were here because of your father. But in all the time that we have been together, no one has come to see you, nor have you went to see him. So, that leaves two options. One, he's dead.. or two, he doesn't know you."

She looked at the ground. "Or three, I don't have a father."

Seia nodded slowly. "Or three." He glanced at the M'Hael. The man said nothing. "So.. which is it?"

She refused to look up at him. "I don't know my father."

"So you're here for someone else, then? Someone that doesn't know you?"

"Yes." She looked up, and her eyes were filled with tears. "When I got here, my mother had been killed, and I was alone. He doesn't know me, but.." The M'Hael made some noise of understanding in his throat. "I hope.. to one day be able to tell him just who I am."

"Who.. who was your mother?" Seia asked.

"Her name was Daylen."

The name sent a shock through Seia. He had seen her name before, on a headstone, in the Gardens. And he had seen the First himself kneel before it. "You... you mean..."

Bridgette nodded slowly. "Raekal Dunshain is my uncle.. and you just foretold his death."

Rodgin was exhausted and wanted nothing more then to sleep or channel. Niether was an option right now. Hours of sword work, watching hours more, and poor sword work at that, had left him exhausted and more then a little on edge.

He had just a few reports left, and then to deliver them to the M'hael. He would finsih the reports in the morning, giving the ones he had tonight.

Knocking on the door, he didn't wait for an answer before poking his head in cautiously. It was an adopted ritual after working with Raekal for the past years.

"I'm sorry I interupted M'hael," he said softly, seeing his student and the girl in the office. "I just wanted to drop off the Legion's Reports.

Aran nodded slightly to Rodgin, as if to say it was allright. This little developement was not a pleasant one. So the girl was Reakal's uncle was she? It was obvious that Seia was also bloody stubborn. Aran turned back to look at the two of them once Rodgin left.

" I do not agree with you that these dreams are of no importance. Let me ask this..do these thngs you see in your dreams often come true? Even if they do not come to pass exactly as you see them I mean. Dreams are often cryptic, theri meaning unclear. I want to knwo if you have any more understand?"

He nodded and Aran gave a motion as if to say they could leave then. This was not going to be a pleasant night sleep for him now either.........

IC: Seia glanced back at Rodgin, noting the odd look in his mentor's eyes. He frowned at the man, not wanting to be seen like this, holding the hand of the girl that he just learned was perhaps something more than just a simple girl. She didn't look at anyone but Seia, her eyes locked on him. He darted glances around the other three in the room.

"Um.." Seia said, realizing he was supposed to be answering Aran's question. "Sometimes, I think, M'Hael." He glanced away. "Before I came here I had a dream where I saw myself eating good food in great quantities.. when I had been starving, and I've never ate better than I have here. And I shall tell you if I have another." He looked around. "In better conditions, if you wish, M'Hael."

Having been dismissed, Seia stepped out of the doorway, pulling Bridgette with him.

"Bri.." he tried to say something, anything, and she laughed at him.

"Bri. I like it. Call me that from now on, will you?"

"I guess.. Look. I mean. I'm sorry, I didn't know," he blurted out as they walked back down the hallway towards the entrance. They were both still soaked.

She stopped, pulling him to a stop as well with the hand that he realized was still in hers. She reached around and took his other, turning him so they were facing one another. "No need to be sorry," she said softly. "I've been watching him since I got here and saw my mother was dead. He.. she.. they don't share much in common. At least not anymore. She used to speak of nothing but him, however."

"Bri, I'm still sorry. If I had known I would never had said anything."

"I said, no need to be sorry." She stepped a little closer so there was some slack in their arms. "I don't know him much, though I've seen the woman he has around, and wanted to talk to her.." She stepped closer still. "The only thing that you could have said that would need an apology is if you had seen yourself die."

He looked at her, into her dark eyes. She was a mesmerizing creature... and just when he realized that she had closed the distance between them, and his arms were around her slim waist, hers around his neck, her lips pressed against his own, he opened his eyes and saw Rodgin standing there. With a hoarse grunt, he broke their kiss suddenly, heat rising to his cheeks as he looked over her shoulder at his teacher. Slowly, Bri turned to look as well, and then looked away, her cheeks bright red.
