Dark Within (Arine)
The sun was setting low on the horizon, the sky already a deep blue in the eastern sky, the western a blaze of dark orange and pink, dark splotches were clouds had wandered in the way. The unseasonal heat was wandering across the browned countryside, drying what little more it could from the land. Scrubbing his nose with the back of his hand, the dark-haired man sat atop the Tower itself, his legs swinging off of the edge, watching the dying light.
He was an intensely handsome man, his skin smooth and pale, his hair dark and curly, pulled back into a ponytail at the nape of his neck, his bangs hanging down around his flint-green eyes. He was humming to himself, watching the far, far below grounds dwindle into darkness. "Soon," he said to himself, "night will fall on this place. Sooner than they think, too. It'll be grand."
He pushed himself up as the last sliver of the sun vanished, and deeper dark settled in. A dog was howling somewhere far below, but for the most part, the eerie-early-night silence had settled in and he was left alone, with only his thoughts. He had a bit to wait before he was to meet with Arine, the new "Amyrlin, blessed in the Light." He laughed aloud at the thought of what the Hall would think and do, knowing that they themselves had pushed and placed a Black Ajah Sister onto the Seat, the highest and most powerful position an Aes Sedai, a ruler, anyone could EVER possess. Except for maybe the M'Hael. He held the undeniable power of fear. The Amyrlin Seat could intimidate, but any fool knew about the Oaths, and knew the restrictions upon her power. The Asha'man operated under no such oaths. They were loose cannons, dangerous beings.
Potential assets.
Stars poked out, glittering in the sky. Kylan glared up at them. He hated the stars, prefering a night when clouds obscured the stars, and when the moon chose to hide it's face. The moon had not yet risen, the only concilation of the night.
A shadow in the corner of the Tower moved, and Kylan turned, saidin raging inside of him in a moment. The figure froze, immobilized by air as thick as bricks around it's limbs. But even as he wove, he saw the face, and knew his caution was for naught. A servant stood before him, the eyes glazed over in death. A grey man. Kylan shivered. He despised the use of Shadowspawn of any type. Trollocs and Myrddraal could win a battle, but for anything else they were effectively uneffective. It was amazing how simple that could be.
But he supposed this was as good a summons as he could ask for, considering the circumstances. He turned away, fire welling up in saidin . . .
Leaving the pile of ashes to be scattered by the winds, he channeled again, a gateway slicing open. He stepped through into the warm interior of the Amyrlin's office. He smiled briefly at the sight. Arine was sitting behind the desk, smiling slightly. The warm breeze slid in behind him before the gateway sliced shut. He walked around the desk, poking and prodding at a few odds and ends. His lips quirked in a smile. Arine was really a fine woman, despite her age. Age was a number, nothing more . . . especially with someone like Arine. Age only added to her appeal. His eyes kept flicking back to her before he finally stopped before her, crossing his arms across his chest. "So. I see you've made quite the niche for yourself here. Mind if I ask why you called me?" He probably knew the answer--his talents were exquisite, his profession perfected. He could kill anyone . . . anywhere . . . anytime . . . for anyone.

The letter was sealed in black wax. She didn't know who had put it there, no one would have dared enter her office without her leave. But this came while she'd stepped out of her office and into the anteroom, and when she returned there was a note. It could have only gotten there one way. Arine sat behind her desk and looked at the black sigil on the seal.
Taking a deep breath she finally took the letter in hand and broke the seal. Her already pale face paled a little more as her dark eyes moved over the words:The Dragon reborn is not dead. Find him and kill him.
That was all it said, she knew now who sent it. So the boy who thought he was Lews Therin Telamon... was not. A small smile spread lightly across her lips and she nodded her head. Embracing the sweet life of Saidar she wove a thin thread of Fire around the letter watching it take to flame. Leaning back in her seat she tapped her soft pink lips and then smirked. Leaning forward she took out a piece of parchment and quill and scribbled a letter.
Pressing her seal to it she only sat back and waited while her note was delivered. Come night there was a shimmer of a gate... luckily everyone had went to bed and no one was in her office. She had said she didn't want to be disturbed. The man, he was indeed hansom, the woman's dark obsidian eyes ran over his body and she smirked. Standing the Amyrlin watched him and waited for him to speak.
Setting her rear on the edge of the desk she said to the man, "The Dragon Reborn do still be alive. I... we have been told to be getting rid of him." Beckoning him close she says in a soft purr, "Can you be doing that for me?" Her dark eyes sparkled as she leaned in, to speak in a whisper, "I will be making it worth your while."

He ran his eyes over her while he processed this information. He had been told that Lews Therin Reborn was that Eldrie character, the one that had fallen in Haddon Mirk. And just to make it safe, the rest of his family had been slain as well. The news that the wrong man was dead was rather unsettling. He tapped his fingers against his thigh. Eldrie had been a dangerous man to let live anyway.
"I'll devote my efforts to finding him," he said with a bow and a thin smile. He stepped a bit closer, trailed his fingers down her cheek. "I thought he was already dead though. Eldrie, or whatever his name was. What makes you think that wasn't him?" Inside he already knew the answer, though. Eldrie wouldn't be dead, if he was the Dragon Reborn. The Great Lord was to kill him, his followers merely to kill his followers. None of the prophecies were fulfilled yet, either. But finding the man that did fulfill them . . . that would take a lot of work, a lot of gold, and a little help.
"Your request will require your own aid, however. Not much, just ignorance of a few . . . issues." He smiled, his fingertips sliding down her neck, across her shoulder, down the line of her side. She was indeed an attractive woman . . . "And time. I'll need time."
