Darkthrone - "The Cult Is Alive"
An album that I am more than glad to revive this section with!!!
Punk never became my passion, even though personal favourites like VENOM and MOTORHEAD have a lot of its vibes in their own riffs. For that same reason it took me a bit more time until "Too Old, Too Cold" - the EP preceding DARKTHRONE's 12th album, started appealing to me. On the other hand, that was the sound that Fenriz and Nocturno Culto have been sticking most frankly to in the last 6-7 years, so let's say that they finally made it a 100 %, and the end result is the aforementioned EP and "The Cult Is Alive". The latter release, with such nose smashers as "The Cult of Goliath" or "Atomic Coming", succeeded in convincing me totally that DARKTHRONE are yet to sell themselves out! And, although I'm aware of the guys' carelessness about visuals, I can't help noting that Kim Solve and Trine Paulsen have done a great job with the layout. On the lyrical front, Fenriz has once more shown up with AMAZING lines. HAIL!
