hahaha yeah, that's taylor for ya
sadly, we actually didn't even eat. we drove the only way we knew how to get back to becca's and didn't pass any food. then we were too lazy to leave becca's after getting directions to whataburger. so then we just passed out.

denton show.....
ok so i must say something...
this might be taken the wrong way, but i hope you guys understand. all of us musicians bust our ass to play these shows. i even played the andy's show and the momo's show while i was sick.
it honestly seems like everyone there couldnt care less if we were on stage or not.
in denton people didnt even listen!!!!
i brought my buddy dean fields from virginia, and people didnt even give a @#%$ about him... sounds under radio came to play the show and everyone left....
it just doesnt make sense to me...
it seems like a lot of you are on these boards because you love music, but when we show up and play it seems like the music is the least important thing.
it makes no sense to me at all , and honestly it really discourages me a lot!!!!
why should i risk everything for music, when it seems like no one gives a crap.
why should we constantly show up and play, if people are not going to listen. and why the heck should i bring amazing musicians for people to hear, and nobody even listens to him.... it is rediculous
honestly, i'm might be coming off as a jerk but try to look at it my way.

Re: denton show.....
taylor, i get it.
it did seem like the crowd was different this time then the xmas show. i don't know, maybe it was that there weren't as many of 'us' there? it seemed more of a general andy's crowd, so who knows.
i can't speak for everyone, but i paid as much attention as i could to everyone...i really dug dean a lot. i had to keep going downstairs because the upstairs bathroom was occupied, so i missed far more of your dual set than i wanted to...i vaguely remember explaining to people why you two were trading off...i think i figured it was because you had been sick, so doing a full set by yourself would have been too hard.
as for anyone else- i know becca's car left early because one of the girls was passed out in her car.
there were definitely people that seemed to be there just to be seen, and then left...i'm pretty sure i know some of nick's fans that left even before he went on. and i feel so bad for lang- we only left because we were hungry, but i do remember that the place totally emptied out.
p.s. i love you

Re: Denton March 12th
Myself, Taylor and Dean had a conversation about this last night, which is probably the reason that it has been brought up. And it's not that we don't appreciate the support that all of the fantastic fans out there give... but I think the deal is, we don't do this because we want to be background music for anyone (and I don't say that to be an egoist), we don't do it to be part of some social scene- we do it because we love the art that we're creating and trying to share with everone we can. And when our abilities to share are hindered by people treating shows simply as social gathering, its a bit counterproductive to what we're all trying to accomplish and can be quite discouraging. Now speaking for myself- we played quite late on sat, so I understood people leaving... i wish more folks had stayed, but we went in to the situation knowing a great number of people would probably leave before we started... but the Taylor/Dean set that was overrun by crowd noise was simply absurd. My thought is this... there are bars all throughout Denton and everywhere for that matter that people can go and drink and talk and be social... but if you choose to pay money to get in to somewhere to listen to music, then listen. And unfortunately this is not a an uncommon thing. I saw Patty Griffin a few months ago (tickets were like 40.00) and the same thing happened... people talking, and distracting all those that really wanted to listen as well as the performer. I don't know... i'm not angry or anything, it's just hard for me to understand sometimes. Why pay the money when all you're going to do is be a distraction to those that are there to really enjoy. When i'm out to see music, i'm there to listen... but maybe I have a skewed perspective. We love people to come to the shows, and we love for people to be active in the music. And I guess that to me is the biggest thing that is upsetting... the people that were really there to listen and really there to be part of the music missed out because either the performer was really distracted, or the audience member was him or herself distracted by those that chose to treat the whole deal as a big party... we want people to enjoy themselves at these shows, and get something out of it... but it's hard sometimes when things go as they did.

Re: Denton March 12th
yeah, i totally see that.
unfortunately, most shows any more are like that- i go to shows all the time, and it's everywhere. some places, its expected. my friend ryan (ryan patrick imming) plays a lot of restaurants and bars that only have music on one night a week...so he IS the background music. and if the crowd is paying attention, it's because they are drunk and yelling 'play some dave!'. but a place like andy's that has music all the time, and those that go there know this...yeah, that sucks.
as a fan, it's annoying too...

amen dawn.
the crowd was waaaay too noisy that night, which just added to my already crappy night. i was in the back 85% of the night and it was hard to hear any of the music. i was dissappointed with a lot of the people there. they could have gone downstairs if they just came to talk. its perfectly fine to socialize there, but when you're ignoring the guys on stage completely, then you shouldnt be there. there werent many people there that were considerate of those who wished to listen to any of the guys.
but the show was still great. taylor, i loved you and dean's set. that was a lot of fun and both of you sounded awesome. lang, sur's performance was equally great. i looooved the mood at the end. it was pretty calming, i enjoyed it just being the guitar/piano, since i got to see the louder part of it at the christmas show. good job you guys. im looking forward to the next show!
Re: ...
Wow, well hey, how about breaking some of the tension here? I stayed for most of the Sounds Under Radio set...that lead sing is some hot stuff...haha.
This is actually my first time on these boards, but anyway- I was finally given permission to post these. A drunken Taylor fell in love on this night, and as a result he wrote two amazing love notes to my roommate. I hope you all enjoy them: Letter One Letter Two

Taylor uses that check yes or no trick with all the girls...don't believe me? on my lunch break, I'll go out to my car and scan the CD he asked me out on...
Oh, Tay...what a harsh way to find out we've broken up

Re: ...
haha, well I'm sorry you had to find out this way, Katie. But allie's boxes said check yes or yes...she wasnt even given the option. Not to mention he asked if she would hold his hand for 3 minutes to see how she liked it....but that 3 minutes turned into a good half hour. He also slow danced with her and serenaded her with Elvis Costello songs. He was really giddy. It was special. haha.
I think you should kick him in the balls for playing you...or the shin, that will do, too.
Re: dang it
well well well.
Best friend....you need to break it to this girl easily that it's over.
