Digital Quest: (chapters 1-3)
Here's a new fan fic I'm starting. Sorry if it's short, but I guess it can't be helped x_x

CHAPTER 1:

“ALERT ALERT, a rogue digimon has broken free, I repeat, a rogue digimon has broken free!”
Dramon breathed heavily as he flew through the shadowy corridors of the prison. Terranicmon was taking this way to far, he had to be stopped before more digimon were harmed.
The small dragon digimon examined his dented scales. The red shade of most of them was dull from the poor treatment he had, and the black scales that created his stripes were no better, though less noticeable. The black spikes on his back and his claws were chipped and rusted-looking, leaving him with a less frightening appearance. Not like his appearance was threatening anyway…but it still made him feel weaker.
Dramon strained his blue-membraned wings as he flew, tired from the lack of exercise. The enemy would be on him soon if he didn’t find a way out.
The dragon digimon looked up and noticed a sunroof not to high up. He positioned his wings to allow him to zoom up there as quick as he could, and he broke through, the cracking of glass meeting his scaled pointed ears.
“He’s up there, get him!” A voice sounded from below.
Dramon looked down and noticed a group of Meramon down below, their flames illuminating the area around them. The dragon flapped his wings quicker in order to escape the barrage of flames they threw at him, swooping in and out of the air as he dodged the burning fire.
“Just leave him, we’ll get him later, he wouldn’t be able to survive on his own.” One of the Meramon said as he waved the others towards the prison compound, “Terranicmon won’t care that a small Rookie got out.”
<That’s what you think. Once I find the Destined, we’ll be able to defeat that overgrown dinosaur.> Dramon thought as he flew on, enjoying his freedom as he swooped into swirling vortex that hung over the jungle of the Southern Continent.

<How’d I get myself into this?>
The teen girl groaned as her teacher spoke on in his monotonous voice, ignoring the fact that the kids weren’t listening to anything that he was saying.
<I know my grades were bad, but how can they be bad enough for me to go to Summer School? It doesn’t make sense…> She thought, her eyes drooping quietly.
“Amanda Drakira, would you like to tell me the answer to this problem.”
<Oh no…he called on me…should I ignore him? Or just play dumb and pretend I don’t know the answer…>
“Uhh…I uhh…don’t know, Sir.” she said.
<Great, now he’s going to fail me, how dumb could I be?>
“Crystal, would you gladly give us the answer, seeing as Miss Drakira doesn’t know.”
The blonde girl who raised her hand nodded, “Yes sir, the answer is 1,238.”
Amanda growled, “Show off.”
“What did you say, Amanda?” The teacher asked, glaring at her.
<Great…now you’re in for it…>
“I…err…”
“That’s a Detention for you, Miss Drakira!”
“Uhh…it’s Summer school…we don’t have Detention…”
“DON’T SPEAK TO ME THAT WAY! I’ll just call your guardian.”
Amanda’s heart dropped. Her Aunt Jenrad would kill her if she heard…she wished she had her parent back…
“Yes, I’ll call your aunt and tell her that you have been disrupting class. She can give out more punishment than I could.”
The bell rang and Amanda just sat in her desk as everyone else got up, glaring angrily at the top of her desk, trying to hide the tears that were coming down her face.
<I hate Jenrad, and he knows it, why can’t my life be normal for once?>
The teen grabbed her books and left the classroom without looking back, stiffening in anger as she heard people whispering about her.
‘Look at her cry, that Baby’
‘She’s always causing trouble, maybe she became mad after her parents died...I’d think she’d be happy, they weren’t the brightest people in the world…’
Amanda stiffened and turned to the girl who said that, it was Crystal. “Don’t talk about my parents that way! You have no right to speak about them like that!” she screamed, clenching her fists angrily.
The blonde smirked at the brown-eyed girl, “Well it’s true, those dumb inventions they made were useless. Trying to see if the digital world was real or not, what a bunch of losers.”
Amanda wanted to hurt the girl, but she knew that she’d get in trouble, and it was against what her parents taught her. Violence didn’t solve anything, not even the problems the jerks gave her.
“Think what you want, but I know that my parents weren’t insane. How would you like it if you‘ve seen your parents die in front of your own eyes? Maybe this‘ll show you!”
Amanda flung her hand towards Crystal and placed her hand over the girl’s forehead. The brown-haired girl thought of the image of Crystal’s parents dying in front of her own eyes and than placed it into the mind of the blonde, causing her to scream aloud.
“There, now you know how it feels.” the teen said angrily, shouldering her backpack and turning from the group of kids that went to see what was happening.
“You Freak!” Crystal shouted, recovering from the vision, “You don’t belong with us normal kids!”
Amanda turned and glared at her, her light brown eyes burning with anger, “I am normal, I’m just different.” she said before leaving the school, slamming the door behind her.

Dramon watched below him as the metal monsters of the Real World zoomed below on the narrow strips of ground humans called ‘streets.’ The small dragon was looking for someone, the picture of her burned into his mind, the small device she needed in his claws. After a refreshing drink in one of the lakes near the small town, he was fully rejuvenated and perfectly happy with his newfound freedom. He wanted someone to share it with.
The machine in the digimon’s hand was a black and red D-Mech, short for Digital Mechanism. It sort of looked like a wristwatch, only wider and had a bunch of buttons on it. The band was black, the buttons red, and the screen on it was white. The small dragon smiled at the small object, knowing it would be the item that would help him to digivolve.
Dramon looked down and noticed a girl walking, her eyes were focused on the ground and her golden-brown hair was flowing down her back. He looked at the D-Mech and noticed that it was glowing brightly, this girl was the one he was looking for.
Amanda looked up and gasped as she saw a small, dog-sized red dragon flying down towards her. She looked around to see if anyone was around, and than looked back at the dragon, who just landed a few feet in front of her.
“Uhh…what are you?” Amanda asked, backing away from the digimon.
“I’m Dramon, and I’m a digimon. I came to…”
“W…w…wait a minute.” Amanda interrupted, “A digimon? So…my parents were right, unless I’m dreaming.”
Dramon shook his head, “You’re not dreaming, for if you were, you wouldn’t feel this.”
The small dragon crawled up to her and tapped her with one of his claws, Amanda backed away more, “So…I’m just having a very realistic dream…”
Dramon growled and sat on his haunches, “Listen, you’re not dreaming, and neither am I. You said your parents were right? Are their names Adrianna and Jonathan?”
Amanda gasped and nodded her head, “Yeah, how do you know them?”
“They created me and a few other digimon for the purpose of stopping a digimon known as Terranicmon from destroying the digital world. So far, two of the Destined are already there trying their best to learn what they can to make us digimon stronger in order to beat this guy.”
Amanda looked at the device the digimon was holding and knelt down to eye level, “What is that thing?”
“Oh this? This is a D-Mech. Put it on, we’re going to need it.”
The girl hesitantly grabbed the D-Mech and put it on her right arm, closing her eyes as a bright light surrounded it and it stuck to her wrist, refusing to get off.
“Come on, we have to go to the Digital World before things get out of hand.”
The D-Mech started to glow again, and a large black and blue portal appeared beside them. Dramon nudged the girl into the portal and flew in after her, not knowing where they would land.

CHAPTER 2

Amanda groaned as she opened her eyes to the darkness of a cave. If Dramon hadn’t started a fire near her, she would’ve thought she had gone blind, for the area around the illumination of the cave was pitch black.

“Where are we?” the Destined asked, rubbing her sore head.

“The Caverns of Darkness. It’s always this dark in here, so we’ll have problems getting out if we don’t have light. Good thing I’m a fire breather.” the dragon said.

Amanda nodded and closed her eyes, “So…who is this Terranicmon, and why is he harming the digital world?”

“Terranicmon is a large apocalyptic dinosaur digimon that was created from the shadows of peoples minds. He lived on those shadows, and grew strong and began to rule the digital world. He’s imprisoning all of the digimon that won’t join him, and will destroy all of them once he has the strength to. I was lucky enough to escape. The prison I was in wasn’t very well guarded, so I didn’t have as many problems as I thought I would.”

“You said there were more Destined than me, who are they?”
Dramon shrugged, “Never met them, the two I heard of were from what I heard from the owners of villages that were thrown into the cells near mine. I trust what they said about that.”

Amanda sighed and began to examine her D-Mech, pressing the button that said ‘ON’. She gasped as a holographic screen popped up from the device, showing a small keyboard and a larger screen to see what was going on.

“INSERT COMMAND.”

Amanda hesitated and typed in “INFO”. The screen changed in order to show a small target sign. “CHOOSE THE DIGIMON YOU NEED INFO ON”

The girl pointed the watch at Dramon and clicked the enter button. The screen than showed a 3D model of Dramon.

“Dramon, belongs to the dragon group digimon. Level: Rookie. This digimon is the only one of its kind, created from the humans Jon and Adrianna along with four others.”

Amanda saw an icon on the screen and she tapped it with her finger to see what would happen. A larger dragon appeared on screen, spinning around slowly to allow her to see it.

“Dramon’s digivolved form is Drakemon. Level: Champion. Stronger than his rookie form, this digimon is a tough warrior in aerial combat.”

Amanda pressed the backspace button on the keyboard and went to the Command Menu. She than typed in, ‘Other digimon created by Jon and Adrianna.”

The screen popped up and showed names of the digimon, but not the pictures, “The digimon created by the two digital scientists were Cubmon, Kittenmon, Gexmon, and Falcmon. Any other information is unknown at this moment.”

Amanda turned the D-Mech off and lay back on the hard floor, thinking about all that had happened, “Well, I can look on the bright side, at least I won’t be seeing Jenrad anymore.

Dramon suddenly went tense and looked around, “Shhh, I hear something…” he whispered, swiping his tail over the flames and causing them to go out.

Amanda winced as they were concealed in complete darkness, she couldn’t see Dramon even if he was an inch in front of her, “Come on, we have to get out.”

The girl felt Dramon’s claw wrap around her hand and he crawled three-legged through the caverns, squinting to discern objects in front of him. His site was more stronger than the humans.

Amanda watched as a small speck of light before them became larger and larger, soon bathing the tunnel with light so she could see what was going on. She rubbed the back of her neck, she thought she felt something, but she must’ve imagined it.

Dramon let her go and crawled ahead, looking around for any signs of danger. He made sure that the Destined remained closely behind, he couldn’t afford to lose her to Terranicmon.

“D-Nova Blast!”

Dramon gasped as a blast of black fire came towards him, and he swiftly dodged the flame, turning to see a large black dinosaur with a bone-like mask on his head.

Amanda quickly turned on the D-Mech and went to the info menu, aiming the target at the dinosaur.
“Greymon, Champion Level. This digimon was a kindly creature until it was infected by the Dark Virus, now it only lives to harm others.”

“Dramon, what’s a Dark Virus?” she asked, backing away from the Greymon.
“This is Terranicmon’s doing…I’ll explain later.” Dramon replied, taking off into the air.

The small dragon flew quickly around the dinosaur’s head, flying as fast as his beat-up wings could take him.

“Dragon Fire!” Dramon breathed in some air and shot out a fireball from his mouth, causing it to slam into the side of Greymon’s face.

The dinosaur roared angrily and a flame started to form in his mouth. He shot it out and once again shouted ‘D-Nova Blast’.

Dramon attempted to dodge, but the flame hit him head on, slamming him against a tree nearby. The dinosaur smirked and made his way towards the fallen dragon, his claws raised.

“Lizard Strike!”

Greymon closed his eyes tightly as a blast of green energy shot at him, knocking him to the side. Outside the forest nearby came a new digimon.

The digimon resembled a long lizard that stood on two legs. He was green in color, and had a small row of spikes running down his back to the tip of his long tail. Red spikes decorated his scales, and sharp claws stuck from his three-fingered hands, gleaming in the sunlight.

“Alright, Gexmon, let’s get going!” a voice came from behind Amanda.
The girl turned and saw a human boy, about her age, behind her. He was slightly overweight, and he wore a shirt with the character Godzilla on it, and he wore a pair of baggy jeans. He had dark brown hair and emerald green eyes. On his wrist was a gold and red D-Mech.

Amanda turned as she heard Greymon roar angrily, and she watched the two rookie digimon attack him. Dramon flew around his head, recovered from the blast, and shot small fireballs at him, and Gexmon crawled in quick circles around him, shooting large green beams of energy at the digimon.

Greymon fell to the ground as the attacks took their toll on him, weakening him greatly. The kid than walked up to him and aimed his D-Mech, pressing a different button. A bright light began to surround Greymon, and his color turned from black to orange and blue. His eyes, which were previously red, became a light blue color, and now he seemed much kinder.

“Alright, Greymon, you’re okay now.” The kid said, patting the digimon’s shoulder.

The dinosaur muttered his thanks and slowly got up, leaving the others behind.

Amanda stared dumbfounded at the kid before her, “Uhh…hi.” she said, too confused at what was happening.

The boy turned and smiled, “Hi, I guess you’re new here. Gexmon told me there were more Destined than just me.” He walked up to her and held out his hand, “I’m Eric.”

Amanda hesitantly held out her hand and shook his, “I’m Amanda…uhh…what just happened? What did you do to that digimon?”

Eric looked at the spot where Greymon had fallen and sighed, “Terranicmon has been infecting many digimon with these Dark Viruses. Our D-Mechs have the ability to get rid of the viruses, but the digimon they are contained in must be weakened first.”

Dramon flew beside Amanda and looked up at the new Destined, “Hi, I’m Dramon, thanks a lot for helping me back there, I felt like I was done for.”

Gexmon crawled next to Eric and smiled, showing a row of small, sharp teeth, “No problem, taking down evil digimon is fun. Nice to see you, brother.” he said, holding out his clawed hand.

Dramon shook it and grinned, “Glad to see you found your Destined, did the others have any luck?”

“Yeah, they want to meet us at Primary Village. So far, that’s the safest place to be right now.” Gexmon said, looking up at Eric, “You think we should get going?”

Eric snapped out of it, he was sort of daydreaming before, something about Amanda seemed odd to him… “Yeah, we should go.”

Amanda followed Dramon and the others as they walked into the forest. She looked around at all of the odd looking plants, still trying to take everything in. Her thoughts wandered to the death of her parents, and she felt tears form in her eyes.

“Hey, Amanda, are you okay?” Eric asked. He slowed down his pace so he was walking next to her.

Amanda nodded, “Yeah…just…never mind, this is too much to take in.” she muttered, sticking her hands in her pockets.

The boy nodded, “Yeah, I felt like that when Gexmon found me…I guess we just have to learn as we go along.”

Amanda smiled slightly and they continued their way to the village, ready to see who the other Destined were.

CHAPTER 3

Amanda watched as a village came near to them. Dramon ran ahead excitedly, his four feet making no sound on the soft grass below.

"So, what is this Terranicmon doing anyway?" Amanda asked, "I know about the Viruses, but how is he getting the digimon?"

Eric looked back at her, "He has his own demonic digimon capture other digimon in the world, and puts them in a strong prison before he infects them. That's what happened to Dramon and Falcmon."

Dramon looked down sadly, "That's why I look so beat up, I just want revenge on that no good digimon."

Amanda nodded and stopped in her tracks. She heard the snapping of a twig nearby, and she learned to be alert for that kind of thing.

"You guys hear that?" Amanda asked, looking around.

Before the others could answer, a small digimon crashed into her. When Amanda opened her eyes, a small, wolf-like digimon was on top of her. He had silver fur, bblue eyes, and two cannon barrels hanging on his sides by a harness.

"Err...who are you?" Amanda asked as the baby wolf backed off of her.

"Sorry, I'm Cubmon. Ed told me to be alert now that Terranicmon is out looking for us." the small wolf said, sitting down on his haunches.

"Nice try, Cubmon," A kid said as he came out of the forest.

Amanda noticed that Ed was around her age as well. He had black hair and blue eyes similar to his digimon's. He wore a shirt with the picture of a wolf howling at the full moon, and a pair of khaki cargo pants.

"Hi, I'm Ed." he said, holding his hand out towards Amanda.

Amanda shook his hand, "I'm Amanda, and this is Dramon." she said, motioning to the small dragon at her side.

"Nice to see you again, Cubmon." Dramon said, shaking the wolf's paw with his own.

The small wolf smiled happily and Ed turned to Eric, rubbing the back of his neck, "Umm...the others told me that they were going to the Rookie Compound in order to free the digimon in there. They told us to meet them somewhere around there."

Eric groaned, "Why didn't they just wait for us? We'll have more advantages when we're together."

Ed shrugged, "Well, I guess we'll just have to find them. I don't think they'll go inside until we're all together."

Cubmon growled, "Knowing Kittymon, she probably would."

Ed gave a disapproving glare at Cubmon who just shrugged, "Well she would."

The group started towards the West where the Rookie Compound was, Ed and Cubmon leading the way. It was not long before Cubmon told them to be quiet and snuck ahead, a mischevious grin on his long snout.

"GERANIMO!"

A loud cat-scream was heard, and a digimon shot out and tackled into Ed, sending the two tumbling against a tree. Amanda saw that the thing that tackled Ed was a cat-like creature. She was purple and had light green tiger stripes on her. An oval shaped ruby crystal rested on her forehead, and she wore gloves holding long, sharp claws.

"Ha ha ha! I gotcha again, Kittymon!" Cubmon said, grinning happily towards the cat.

Kittymon hissed and crawled off of Ed, dusting herself off, "I hate it when you do that!"

A girl came out of the forest, giggling at the small cat, "He's just having some fun, Kittymon."

The girl had long, blonde hair, and dark blue eyes. She wore a shirt with two kittens wrestling playfully with each other, and a pair of light blue jeans.

"Hey, Ashley, how are you doing?" Eric asked, recovering from laughing at her digimon.

"I'm fine. Gray told me to find you guys. Him and Falcmon are trying to find a way into the prison.

Eric nodded and helped Ed up, "Alright, if you're wondering, these two are Amanda and Dramon. They finish the Destined Team." he said, pointing to the girl and her digimon.

Ashley held out her hand towards the new girl, "I'm Ashley, it's good to meet you."

Amanda shook the girls hand and smiled, "Nice to meet you. We should get going, I don't want your friend to worry about you guys." she said, looking down at Dramon.

"Yeah, follow me." Ashley said, pushing some tree branches out of the way.

The others followed and watched as the forest ended, making way for a large clearing. Amanda gasped at the large building that stood there. It was made completely out of stone, and it rose higher than the trees that stood behind them. A large golden dome surrounded it so no digimon could get out.

"That's it, the Rookie Compound." Eric muttered as they looked at the building.

Amanda backed off, if they were going in there, it seemed like they would never get out...
