FAO: The incoming Interior Minister
Greetings sir, first let me congratulate you on your new appointment and welcome you to your office.
I have taken it upon myself to leave you these suggestions on how to proceed -- it is of course your job, and therfore your perogative to ignore this advice if you see fit.
The nation needs a census, badly, so one should be completed as quickly as possible. As we have lost all our immigration records, it would probably be worth checking joining dates or similar to establish a skeleton list indicating when each member first approached Talamthom, though you may find this difficult. In addition, there used to be an Oath to the Republic, which all new citizens had to take. Ask the Dáil first, but it may be worth reenacting that, and getting everybody to take it retrospectively. Your call.
The rest is slightly more tricky. As Minister of the Interior, I would expect you to play a role in dredging up past legislation relating to anything you can find (the Prime Minister and the Speaker in the Dáil should help you with this task) and presenting it to the Dáil for fresh discussion. I believe that most of the discussion in the last two terms was related to the Constitution, but there were a couple of other Acts which it is probably worth finding again. The Admin of Justice act for one. ;-)

Re: thanks
Welcome to your new office, Mr Loutardis.
My congratulations and gratitude for getting a census up and running so quickly. Perhaps, however, it would be best to conduct this in the public view, i.e. in this office, rather than via email? Just a suggestion...
