Flaws in Tolkien?
Anybody else find something in Tolkien that just doesn't make sense or bothers you?
For example--Theoden. Okay, here is a King. Someone whose word is practically law. More, he's an old man, which means at least he's set in his ways (if not outright stubborn).
And he completely changes his political policies, his outlook on life, his choice of primary counselor, his relationship with his nephew, his feelings about Gandalf (who took the most valuable horse in the King's possession--the most valuable horse!!!! Of Rohan's King!!!!!!!! ), plus his views of the powerful neighbor Saruman!
In about forty five seconds. All it took was Gandalf to say "Hey! You're wrong" knock away his walking stick, then a couple of breaths of fresh air.
Sorry. Never believed it.
