Foreign Office Future Plans
Tománnachs,

This is a brief list of things declaring the future of activities of this office both prior to and following the Dáil Elections.

1. Have four nations as signatories to a closer treaty with our Republic by the end of next term. We are already half-way there with Gotzborg and the Grand Commonwealth. Cyberia and possibly Alexandria will be the other targets. [ALMOST THERE]

2. Get Dáil assent to our Republic joining the MCS formally. [DONE]

3. Pass legislation formally bringing the governance of Tománn Indo-China under that of this office. At which time the office shall also become officially known as the Foreign and Overseas Territories Office and will act as a point of contact with Santos Laguna. [ALMOST THERE]

4. Pass new legislation restricting nations with which we may hold a treaty to those who are members of the MCS. This action will not be retrospective. [DONE]

5. Hold at least 6 recognition treaties by the end of next term with other MCS nations; our new neighbours will be a priority. [NEXT ON THE AGENDA]

6. Make it a new policy to stop by all nations with whom our Republic holds close relations at least every week and those with looser relations every 14-20 days. This will act to ensure that Talamthom retains a presense on the intermicronational scene. [ON-GOING]

7. Make it a new policy to attmpt to aid other countries involved in disputes where we can. This will help us in our move away from the isolationist foreign policy that has blighted the office for so long until recently. [ON-GOING]

8. Appoint a Tománnach Ambassador/Foreign Affairs Assistant to aid in the running of a newly revitalised office. [SITUATION UNDER REVIEW]

Thankyou for reading this short message. Admittedly a lot of these targets rely heavily on me being re-elected to the Dáil in the upcoming elections but I hope they act as a guide for where i wish to take this office.

Kindest Regards,

I have to query the fourth point. As a nation only just joining the MCS, surely we should feel a duty to aide nations existing 'in limbo' as we once were, rather than shun them?

Other than that, this is very promising. And as a manifesto for 'what you will do if elected and made foreign minister again', you certainly have my vote.

That point i will admit is controversial but has its benefits. Nations that exist outside of the MCS we'd recommend join the organisation and they wouldn't be shunned by far. The legislation planned would simply restrict the signing of treaties with 'outsider' nations and wouldn't prevent us from issuing a statement of recognition and offering aid.

I suppose there's a certain degree of logic to that. If they don't exist on Micras, they can't really enter into defense/trade treaties, because they're geographically nonexistant. Recognition and similar is about all they'd really be looking for, I guess.
