Gaianism
Gaianism 101:
Gaianism begins with the premise that the planet earth is sacred and worthy of our respect because she gave birth to our species and remains our only permanat home. The beleif in the goddess Gaia, or the great mother, is optional. What counts as gaianism is a willingness to act as though the earth is holy and remembering that each and every creature is related or dependant to or upon the next. Essentially this means you commit to living a substantial lifestyle speak of her respectfully and generally work to make her a better place. Gaianism is one of the few ways of life open to all religions. You can be gaian and also be pagan, chritian, baha'i, buddist, wiccan, ect. Membership focuses more upon actions then belief and speeches. in fact, if yu have been caring for the earth and looking ater her, you have been gaian all along.
Gaianism as a religion:
Most Gaians worship solitary. They worship either Gaia or the great mother, (the name invoked is in the preference of the practitioner) They are minimalist, using mainly what the earth provides willingly to worship. Many follow the way of the healer and the wise ones and some can be deemed witches by todays standards. Some of us cast, but differently then those of ceremonial magicks, again, using only natural materials. (herbs, stones, wood, and flowers as well as beeswax candles) We also tend to be voracious learners, devoring new informaition in our attempt to understand the earth and her children and the many different beleifs. I honestly, have never spoken to a prejudiced or bigoted Gaian. That is not to say there are none out there. The general beliefs is that "you are who you are" Your sexual preference as well as your religious preferance are considered in much the same way as your skin, hair and eye color. We do not feel things of the spirit are changeable anymore then things of the skin. Essentailly, (and repeated) YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE. is it possible to feel something is right just by the way someone describes it, gaia?
l was kinda bored, so l started sifting through this forum, cus l still haven't figured out where exactly l am (this isn't the first subject l read), and this one... kinda sent goosebumps down my back, l guess. anyway, thanx for the info. it's.. l dunno. *shrugs* l seem to find stuff like this on cotes all the time. is that a bad thing, l wander? (at least it don't matter if l'm bi in this one. hehe.)
