Hello from Michigan!!
My name is Ann and I live in Michigan. I have been riding horses all my life, and currently I breed, raise and sell North American Spotted Draft horses. I have 5 mares and one foal due in June.

I showed for years in 4-H, local shows, and local circuits with a Quarter Horse gelding. We concentrated on mostly western classes, but showed huntseat flat classes, halter, trail, gymkhana for fun, some reining. After I got out of college, I found the level of local competition to be beyond my desire, and I switched to the draft horse breeds.

I've shown them, in hand and in cart, bred them, buy/sell, etc. They are beautiful, quiet animals with excellent attitudes. My mares range from 16.1 hands to 17 hands.

I lost my right leg above the knee in 2003 due to a motorcycle accident. I also am still having some problems with my right elbow, so I only have limited use (right now). I can't lift or push on it with any amount of force. I have not ridden since my accident, but I am currently looking to buy a well-trained smaller horse to start riding again this summer.

My quest to get answers to my questions about riding with an amputation led me to create this forum.

My other hobby is my classic car (convertible) which I take to shows and drag race.

Looking forward to meeting all of you!
Ann
