Hey Crawl
If I may inquire, where are you going for Christmas Break? You mentioned plane tickets the other day.

On my flight to CA, a little old lady got kicked off the plane for being non cooperative. Between people trying to reason with her, returning to the gate, getting her bags out of the plane, and replacing the fuel lost, it caused an hour and 15 minute delay.

Before we boarded, I got pulled out for a random search. The security guy liked my NES games :) He was showing everyone and saying "Remember these? I used to play Nintendo all the time!!"

I'm going to New Jersey again to be with Flying Omelette for Christmas break.

What was the old lady doing to be "uncooperative"? It's a shame the plane was delayed and she had to be removed... but then again, I've seen enough monumental stupity to imagine her needing to just to some simple thing, but was too stupid to understand it or too stupidly stubborn to be willing to do it.

The last two times I was on a plane I brought my game boy with me. I'm considering leaving it behind this time. Hm... Can't really decide yet. I don't really play it at all in the air, but it might be useful for layovers, especially layovers with unexpected delays (I once had to take a bus home from a different place, and had an unexpected 8+ hour layover in a bus stop in the middle of the night. I almost lost my mind; the only thing I had to maintain my sanity was a walk man I bought for the trip. I wish I had my game boy then). I would think being constantly x-rayed might not be good for the chips... I really doubt any of my stuff would be confiscated, but with all the new security, maybe I should err on the side of caution. Is it still possible to take two carry on bags, or just one?

Well, the last couple of times I came back from FO's, I brought quite a few NES games with me.

You hit the nail on the head. She refused to put her seat back in the full upright position for takeoff. About 3 flight attendants asked her to move it, and she simply said "No." Then when they started to reason with her, she said it wouldn't move. She started getting nasty. She said (In a very bitchy way) how rude the people were being, and they need to be more polite, and would not let the security guy get a word in edgewise.

When a flight attendant tried to move the seat for her, she started screaming "Ow! Ow!" like a kid who is about to get a shot, but screams when the doctor swabs his arm with alcohol.

Anyway, the cops had to escort her off, and she didn't take the threat seriously until she was being lifted from her seat. She was apologizing, but it was too late for that. Then she said "Bye" to the lady next to her, and the whole section of the plane yelled "Bye!" back to her in a sarcastic manner.

As for bags, they let you have one bag and one personal item. They didn't consider a backpack a personal item, so I had to check my other bag.

Re: Hey Crawl
My flights in November went surprising well. I actually got to my destinations early both times, and I never got the little "S" on my tickets that would make me one of the people randomly searched. Well, there was one little weird thing. Right before reaching Manhattan the pilot announced that we would have to loop around it. Turns out that he just found out that the president was in Manhattan at the time, and they weren't allowing any commercial planes to fly over Manhattan while he was there.

Allright, I guess. My 20 new NES games have been keeping me pretty busy. (Busy cleaning them, that is.)

I have to adjust to living with my parents every time I go home. It seems they always have some new quirk that's difficult to get used to.

I'm going to a couple parties this weekend where a lot of my old friends will be, so I'm looking forward to that. I haven't talked to FJ about hanging out.

I don't miss grad school much at all, but I'll probably be ready to work when the time comes.

Whoa, I didn't even realize you replied because I thought the time of last post was so close to mine, when I saw the main page... yadda yadda, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, how was your party?

Well, I got home at 7 AM, if that tells you anything :x

It was nice. There were a couple "surprises" there, like one old friend who I haven't seen since 8th grade.

Then last night I went to the pizza parlor where I used to work, as they were having their Christmas party. A lot of old employees show up, so I always go.

How's things at FO's? Are you taking lots of pictures for us?

Well, I got a few pictures of FO (not nearly as many as I got last time, though. I filled 3 rolls of film that time) but so far we haven't had her parents take any of us together yet. We'll have to on Saturday, I guess. She had a few pictures of us together from last time, though, that I haven't seen before, and some are really good, and I might not mind scanning those and showing them off.

Regarding the pizza parlor, what did you do there? I worked for a short time delivering pizzas. It was a surprisingly decent job, I suppose, considering. The customers weren't jerks (for the most part) like most customers for other things are (other drivers on the road, however, were another story) and most even tipped quite well.

You love FO!! I'm sure of it!
Well, it opened in '93, and I was one of the original employees. I was there until late '98. By the end, I was about as close to being a manager as you coud get. I was asked to be one, but I was going to college.

The real manager did the books and such, and spent most of the night schmoozing with customers, while I was in the kitchen working (usually throwing the pizza dough) and overseeing everything.

The people were usually decent; we were pretty high priced, so that kept out the riff-raff.

You guys are making me feel depressed with your happy holidays. I was happy this last month because I was spending a lot of time with a girl from my classes. Then she moved away shortly after our graduation, and I haven't heard from her since. I've spent the last week worrying about GREs and graduate school applications, hoping to hear from her. At least I made it through senior seminar and finals in one piece. I am glad to hear that somebody had a good Christmas though. Happy New Year to all.

Hey litttle dude, good to see you again. Missing girl+grad school duties doesn't sound like a good combo.

How many programs are you applying to? By now, I assume you've gotten most of the applications sent off; most of mine were due around this time.

Anyway, hope to see you around a bit more. Have a good New Year.

Yeah, all that stuff isn't good =( I'm glad to see you again, though.

As for my private life, we scheduled a plane trip for FO to visit Ohio in a couple of weeks, perhaps in preparation for her to move here!!!

Re: I LOVE FO!
I'm not sure how many I'm applying to. I'm way behind here. I haven't even taken the GRE yet. Luckily some of the schools I'm looking at have later deadlines that are in February. I have to move my focus onto all that stuff in the next couple days. I haven't been online much the last month or so because of all those last minute assignments, finals, graduation, and actually having a life for a while.
