School Grounds
  Grounds
The grounds... are... large... large and green. Uhuh. They contain the forest, the lake, the quidditch pitch, and a peculiar little stone cottage.
06/2/05 20:02
  The Lake
A beautiful, shimmering blue, the lakes shore is impressively round. It would be circular if it werent for the bite taken out of its northeast corner by the jutting of the forest.
829/4/05 15:49
  The Forbidden Forest
Since the old Hogwarts closed down, the forest has crept forwards at a surprising pace and is much larger now than it was before. In the heart of it, the leaves wind thickly against each other and the light is dim. Strange creatures reside here, of varying levels of intelligence, but most are aware of intruders. The new foliage is not quite as dense as the old, and it is not quite as dark underneath, but it can still be dangerous. Explorers beware.

  Greenhouses
These are the greenhouses in which many interesting things are grown. You will also have your herbology class here. Some of the greenhouses you can enter at will, some only with permission. Generally you can't use the one that they grow the herbs in for potions and the infirmary. It's for practical use and students cant be risked to mess it up. Nothing much interesting anyway.

  Rooftop
'Tis the roof. Some bits are flat, and some are tiled and sloping, so be careful. Not all the exits and attics lead somewhere in this school.
320/2/05 17:22
  Astronomy Platform
The top of one of the larger towers of the school has been set up especially for the use of the astrology class. The staircase emerges through a trapdoor in the middle of the area, and telescopes are mounted next to the wall all the way around. Each is adjustable to almost any direction. Beside each telescop is a floating desktop which moves to be at the users hand depending on which way they're facing. Astrology classes are conducted every Friday at midnight. Feel free to come up and use the platform at any other time, though.
3928/3/05 19:49
  Quidditch Pitch
This is the place where it all happens. Quidditch matches, Quidditch practice, and flying classes. Of course you're welcome to practice flying here and anywhere else on the ground whenever you like, if you're above third year and have been flying at least 2 years. Flying inside is prohibited at all times.
022/3/04 4:10
  Hagrids Hut
A small stone cottage situated away from the main school buildings, between a field and a stretch of grass leading to the lake. It has its own garden patch. Once it belonged to Hagrid, the half-giant grounds keeper. It now houses a young woman known only as Falcon, the flying instructor. Knock if you need to speak to her, but she's not always there. Sometimes she disappears for a few days.

Inside the School
  The Dungeons
Dark, dank corridors are built of stone that seems darker than the stone in the rest of the school. The way is lit by torches bracketed at intervals and alternating sides of the hallways. At one stage, there were long stalactites of wax hanging from those brackets which carry candles rather than torches, and the deeper corridors were hung with cobwebs. Of course, since the school has been thoroughly cleaned before its re-opening, and all the candles replaced with good steady burning torches, this problem seems gone. But in the very deepest of the ancient cells, there are still cobwebs, and maybe even skeletons. Afterall, nobody has been down there in dozens, if not hundreds, of years. Don't worry though, the potions labs and rooms relevant to students aren't too deep into the labyrinth.
011/7/04 18:12
  Potions Lab
Double double, toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble... The stainless steel benchtops here are much like the ones in the kitchen, and scoured just as clean. Ring shaped burners set into depressions in the top have eliminated the need for awkward bunsen burners and the like. Dont worry, magic ensure the rest of the table doesnt heat up. Generally only one cauldron between two is required, but there are enough burners for everyone nevertheless. Under each desk is a cupboard in which you can store ingredients, cauldrons and stirrers. The teachers desk is out the front, and the locked cupboards to the side of the room contain ingredients you need permission for. The lighting in here is much brighter than the rest of the dungeons, as a certain precision is required.

  The Great Hall
One of the things that took the longest to repair was the famous ceiling in this hall. Nonetheless, it appears that those doing the repairing, succeeded enviably. The huge cathedral domed ceiling is filled with a sort of fog, and it creates in full dimension an exact replica of the sky above. So look up and enjoy the brightness of the stars, or watch the gently falling snow or a thunderstorm in full glory- without risk of getting wet. The staff table stretches across the front, and the four house tables run lengthwise, the wall at the end decked with their respective banners. The wall behind the house table bears the school crest.
5311/3/05 6:08
  Noticeboard
In the main foyer, just outside the doors to the great hall, is an enormous noticeboard. There are 5 sections that are from left to right, green, red, white, blue and yellow. One for each house, and one for the whole school. If you've lost something, put up a notice. Be sure to check for important notices regularly.
211/2/05 21:59
  Ballroom
Adjacent to the Great Hall, the Ballroom appears only for special events. An impressive room, with a polished wooden floor and a large chandelier hanging from the ceiling, the ballroom has a stage at one end, a dancefloor in the middle, and circular tables around the edge.
3911/3/05 6:41
  Stairways and Corridors
These corridors wend back and forth through the school from classroom to classroom. Be sure to specify which floor your on, and beware- the staircases sometimes move! Well, except for the little solitary ones in towers and such, of course.
027/5/04 3:07
  The Kitchens
The kitchens are walled along one side with roaring fireplaces and stoves. In the middle of the room sit long stainless steel benchtops that match the wooden tables in the great hall above. Every surface in this room is gleaming in its cleanliness. Not quite as homey as it was when the house elves ran it, but the housebots are still 'friendly' and competent enough to serve you whatever you want, outside of normal meal hours when they are run off their feet.. er.. wheels.
026/1/04 19:50
  Towers
The towers are tall and proud, rising above the varying peaked roofs of the Hogwarts castle. Most of the towers have windows opening out of them that offer a wonderful view, so they're most often used by students wanting some time alone. The rooms aren't really big enough for classes. Except the rooms in the Ravenclaw tower, but then, they're full of Ravenclaws...
911/2/05 21:57
  Room of Requirement
This room appears when you most need it, filled with whatever it is you need. You cannot find it otherwise. If you know where it is, walk past three times thinking hard of the thing that you want, and it will appear. ((You need permission to use this room))

  The School
This is where you can post if you want to be anywhere else in the school that doesn't have its own forums. As well as the date, if you are in a specific place please include in the subject a note of where you are.

  Library
Books, lots of books, that got salvaged from somewhere. There is a main sort of tabled area, and private study cubicles too if you've got exams coming up, or have fallen behind. Shh.. not too loud.. Oh yeah, and you need permission to get into the restricted area.

  Infirmary
The hospital wing is a long ward extending on its own into the grounds. There are windows along both sides. Sunlight is beneficiary to your health you know. There are two rows of beds, each with a drawable curtain and a small bedside table and stool. At the far end of the clean white room is the nurse's (headmistresses) office and quarters.

House Territories
  Gryffindor Commonroom
The colours here are red and gold. The furnishings are rich, and the walls panelled in mahogany. The Griffindor banner hangs above the door at the opposite end of the room to the fireplace. Upon entering the room, one notices a door in the far right corner, and a staircase in the near right. The staircase leads up to the girls dormitories, and the door turns to the right into a small corridor which the doors to the boys rooms open off.
57/2/05 9:57
  Gryffindor Dorms
Rooms of 8 beds from 1st-3rd year, 5 from 4th-5th, 2 for 6th. All 7th years have private rooms, unless they want to share in twos. Girls and Boys have separate rooms.
120/2/05 15:00
  Hufflepuff Commonroom
Everything furnishing this common room is upholstered in warm honey coloured fabric with a soft velvety feel. The wood of the tables and cupboards is also made from a light golden wood. The carpet is speckled with amber-brown flecks, which match some of the contrasting cushions. Doors to the girls and boys dorms are at the far end of the room, on either side of a bookshelf. Boys on the left, girls on the right.

  Hufflepuff Dormitories
Rooms of 8 beds from 1st-3rd year, 6 from 4th-5th, 2 for 6th. All 7th years have private rooms, unless they want to share in twos. Girls and boys dorms are separate.
09/1/05 14:54
  Ravenclaw Commonroom
Probably the most elegant of the four houses, the Ravenclaw common room is actually split into two levels because of its situation in one of the larger towers. The door opens into the lower level, and rather than a fireplace there are several lit braziers around the perimeter of the room. A carved wooden staircase spirals in the exact centre of the room to the floor above. A door on the far side of the entrance leads down to the girls dorms. This is generally the room that is for hanging out and having fun- the floor is dark blue with silver stars, and there are bean bags of various shades strewn around the room. Unlike the other houses where there are tables on one side or end, the study area for the Ravenclaws is upstairs. There are bookshelves lining the curved walls, and a fireplace above the downstairs main entrance. Above where the entrance to the girls dorms is, a stair leads up to the boys.

  Ravenclaw Dormitories
1st-3rd years bunk in 4, 4th-6th in 2 and 7ths have private rooms. The rooms are small, with curved walls, but have a nice view. Girls and boys dorms are separate.
09/1/05 14:57
  Slytherin Commonroom
The Slytherin common room is in the dungeons, so the walls and floor are stone. Still, its warm enough, and dry, since the fire is always blazing and thick forest coloured rugs creep across the floor like moss. The furniture is somewhat less opulent than in the other common rooms, but just as comfortable. From above the doorway, the silver eyes of the snake watch over the long narrow room. The girls dorms are reached through a door to the left of the fireplace, the boys to the right. There is a bookshelf of sorts the the corner right again of this.
09/1/05 14:58
  Slytherin Dormitories
For the 1st-5th years, the massive rooms hold 6, with plenty of left over space. 6th and 7th years have their own rooms. Only 7th years have windows. The huge rooms are dimly lit, but each student has a study desk with a lamp/torch. Boys and girls dorms are separate.
09/1/05 14:59
  Student Bathrooms
While each dorm room has its own small bathroom, there is also a much larger one near each houses area of the castle- though not quite near enough to give away their secret entrance, of course. Each of these bathrooms have toilets and showers- separate for boys and girls, of course- and a large central room with a swimming pool. Boys and girls may swim together, provided they are wearing adequate gear. These bathrooms are open to students from all houses.

Prefects
  Prefects Lounge
Well, its a lounge, fairly swish. The decor is cream and natural wood, with a thick carpet and plush velvet armchairs. A warm fire crackles against one wall, theres a dining table, even a kitchen.
026/1/04 23:29
  Prefects Bathroom
Ok, so this one is unisex, but its more of a swimming pool than a bath really, and the changerooms are individual cubicles, with locking doors.
026/1/04 23:30
  Detention Hall
If you've overstepped your limits as a student, and there isn't anything constructive for you to do (polishing trophies, oiling the housebots, etc) then you'll be stuck here under the watchful eye of either a staff member, or one of the prefects.
026/1/04 23:30
Outside the School
  Diagon Alley
The main shopping area for english wizards, even during the aftermath this place was always a bustling hive of activity. Now it is once again also the place for collecting anything you might need for the new school year.
023/7/04 23:27
  Hogsmeade
This is a cheery enough little village, just beyond the borders of te Hogwarts grounds. Probably the most famous shop here is Honeydukes, one of the worlds greatest sweet stores. And of course, the Three Broomsticks Inn, for that marvelous beverage butterbeer.
116/3/05 13:44
  Muggle London
Enjoy the parks, go see a movie or go shopping. Anything you like really just remember- NO MAGIC!
027/7/04 21:09
  Knockturn Alley
Good may have triumphed over evil in the wars, but Knockturn Alley is as it has always been: a dark and dangerous place. This is no place for children. If you get out with only being robbed of a few coins, you're a lucky one. Turn back before its too late.
