g,day
my name is tim, i am a ak amp , right leg, lost in a motorbike accident, bout 6 yrs ago.
I am after any tips on saddle mods and also on prosthetic modifications to make working in the saddle a little more bearable.
I have been working on cattle stations ridng ASH, Australian Stock horses, and a couple of quarter horses,, [come off plenty of times with them].
Problam is not having good balance, esp at full gallop through the scrub after wild cattle.

also, am i injuring the horses back. 10+hours in the saddle a day?

And how can i stop getting damn holes in my wranglers, ive tried a leather patch, bit dorky lookin though.?

Thanks if ya can help me out..
im also training a colt soon, for myself, should i use imputs from my left[good] leg only, or try to use both, my prosthetic bounces round some what though, in any thing but walk.

oh,, its all western riding. you yanks call us cowboys, but over here were ringers, or stockmen.

thanks//

Re: g,day
Tim,

Welcome! You and I have the same level of amputation - and some of the same questions you have are what led me to start this board.

I'll post some of your questions as separate topics in other forums. I am doing my best to get the link to this bulletin board 'out there' so we can get more feedback.

I'm glad to see another western rider. We all face challenges, but the differences between the western & english riding styles present their own difficulties.

Please share with us any things you have learned since going back to riding, and hopefully we can get some of your questions answered as well.
