How will I know when I m/c?
This is probably a dumb question but how will I know when I m/c? I am still waiting. I have been bleeding/spotting for 12 days. Yesterday I figured it just was not going to happen on its own because I had one day with nothing and yesterday morning with one little spot. Then out of no where yesterday a gush of blood came out(through my underwear and shorts, UGH)with one very small blood clot. No cramps at all. I take it that was not the actual m/c. I will for sure have cramping with the m/c right? And mine was a blighted ovum....how do I know when I pass the sac? What does it look like.
Thanks!
Karen
I had no cramping at all with my first m/c and only cramps after a week with my second. I also think that there is a misconception out there that m/cs just happen. This is rarely the case. It is usually a process and it sounds like the process has started for you. It is quite common to bleed off and on, so don't be surprised if it happens again.

Karen,
With my first m/c I just had bleeding and slight cramping just like a regular period. However, with my second I also had a blighted ovum. I had spotting and very light cramping for the first few days, but when the actual "bleeding flow" happened with small clots it was I guess within 48 hours that the m/c happened. I had cramping and personally had the beginnings of what I termed labor type cramps about 3-4 hours before the m/c because they were worse than any cramping I have ever had. I passed tissue (that looked like small blood clots) for probabbly 24 hours before the actual m/c. By then I was in the ER, and about 6am went to the bathroom and "plop" out it came. That part wasn't painful and honestly the water was so bloody I couldn't tell much about it except that it looked to me like a huge blood clot. I said it felt like my whole insides came out put there was a great pressure release from my inside and I stopped cramping almost immediately. I then had my D&C a few hours later, which was already scheduled for that day anyway. I guess once it started happening the entire m/c took about 48 plus hours from very beginning to end. I am sorry if this was TMI...I have the opinion that everyone is different and has a different experience with it, but since I had a blighted ovum too I thought I would tell you mine. I really hope you don't have to wait much longer, because it is hard enough waiting and there is a kind of weight lifted when it finally happens. Again sorry if TMI
Just out of curiosity, if you don't mind me asking. How long have you been waiting for this and why have they made you wait or was it a personal decision. Reason I ask is because , I started m/c'ing before I found out the cause and they immediately scheduled me for a D&C. I guess you found out alot earlier.
I hope this helped and again I feel like I may have given TMI, if so please l me.
Thanks
Crystal
Re: How will I know when I m/c?
For me I had a missed m/c and only found that out 2 wks after the fetus had passed on. I was so close at being 10 wks. Then I had light spotting then it was just weeks of bleeding just like a regular period with one big gush bleeding and then when it got to me being at my 14 day of bleeding I was just spotting and I was thinking oh good it is not existing anymore I spoke too soon I started to ache in the cervix region. Then later on during that gush of blood was coming out of me and I couldn't even make it to the bathroom that was including clots too that were big! I had to end up in the ER because of so much loss of blood and then had a emergency D&C. I just had a cervix ache during the m/c and that was just it.
Crystal, no you did not give me to much info, I like a lot of info Thank you. As far as me waiting, it was mostly a personal decision. I found out when I was 8 weeks that the sac stopped growing at 6.5 weeks, I would now be 11.5 weeks. I decided to wait a few weeks to see if it would happen on its own because I was wanting to m/c naturally(just a personal decision) and the dr. said I was in no danger to wait. Well, last week I called the dr to tell them I was bleeding on and off for a week and they said my m/c has started so wait one more week and come in and they will do an exam and see if everything has passed or if I need a d&c. So I have an appt for Wed and we will see what the outcome is. Since I have been bleeding and spotting for so long I thought maybe, just maybe this would be the extent of my m/c but I was thinking I would probably have more cramping. Sooooo, it sounds like everyone is different and I will have to wait and see Wed.
Thanks again.
Karen
Re: Thank you
Hi there, sorry to but in, I was wandering around seeing how my dear friend Lisa is doing and I saw your post....
I had a blighted ovum also, I opted for a natural m/c (mainly I think, to prove to myself that my pregnancy wasn't viable and would end with no ones help)
I was told at 7 weeks and m/c'd at 10 weeks, started on Sunday night about 10pm and was just about over by Monday morning at 6am.
They use a lot of nasty descriptive words like "....when you pass the sac..." and I hated it but there's not really a lot nicer way of putting it
I had a mini labour, with the contractions and everything, it hurts, I wont lie to you. I only got through it by sitting on a foot stool, bent over with a boiling hot water bottle on my stomach, it distracted me from the pains. I didn't take any medication.
The "sac" was see-through and quite large, you'll know when it happens, there's no mistaking it. It looked like a popped baloon, I went to the toilet and it was kind of pokeing out so I pulled it into some toilet paper, I was quite shocked at how big it was, as big as the palm of my hand... but as the other lady said, after that was gone it stopped hurting anything like the way it had been, and by the next morning I physically felt fine, I bled for a few days, maybe two, then just spotted for a while.
I hope you are doing ok and this, again, isn't TMI, but I wish I'd known what was going to happen, I didn't really feel prepared - but then again, can you ever really be?
Hugs and love to you, stay strong.
Sue.

Re: Thank you
Sue! How are you! I've been thinking about you. I was going to email you soon and let you know how I'm getting on actually. My period is due any day now, so I was waiting for an outcome!
Betty is still under the bed. DH had a low SA last month though so maybe she should be under his side! We are just waiting for his last SA results.
I've had strong pg sxs this cy, but they went away yesterday and my temp dropped this morning, so may show her face tomorrow.
I'll let you know.
We are all posting on the pregnancy & baby boards now too BTW, if you were wondering why is was looking like a ghost town here!
Re: Thank you
Hiya Lisa
I noticed on one of the other threads that you'd moved but I can't seem to get on the new site....having said that, I can't get on my own board for the past two days...humm...
C'mon Betty! You'd better mail me as soon as there's any news! I've been wondering how it's going.
Well, 6:30am, I'd better go get ready for work (sucks) but at least with Easter coming it's only a four day week
Love to you....
