Hurricane Katrina
If you've seen any tv or internet news site in the last few days, you've seen the images of the aftermath of Katrina. It is heart-breaking. I cannot even begin to fathom what it would be like to lose everything, but many have. Most of the evacuees are here in Houston with me and I'll be working with shelters all weekend. I know that most of you don't live anywhere near Houston but you can still do so much to help. You can donate money to the Red Cross (this is one of the most important needs) and you can pray for those affected.

I've been personally affected by this epic storm. A large portion of my family has been displaced and I have an aunt in New Orleans that we have not heard from yet. She is a nurse and often works with the prison system so she most likely had to stay during the first evacuation. We are deeply concerned for her. My father has already lost his mother and a brother this year and I worry what the loss of a sister might do to him. Please keep my family and the many others in your prayers.

Re: katie dear
my aunt is safe and sound! she was trapped in the city of new orleans for a few days while working at the prison. she had to swim through some of that nasty flood water to get to medicine that the prisoners needed. she lost her car to the flood but her apartment is fine. thanks for your concern, y'all!
