InterMicronational Surver of Nations.
I see this is the Information Ministry section, no?

As written in the following post, I am doing a Micronation survey of nations, for a university project. I would be grateful if you could fill this in so that I can add your nation to the listings. The site will go live on the 16th.

Re: InterMicronational Surver of Nations.
Mr Beckford,

If Mr Gray does not object, I will take the liberty to fill this in on behalf of the Republic. Let me know if I get this right...

Short Name:
Talamthom.
Long Name:
The Republic of Talamthom or Poblacht na Tománn.

Basic Theme/style:
Irish Gaelic.
Number of Citizens:
Nine, at the last Census.

Basic Governemnt Type:
Constitutional Republic.

Leader Title:
President of Talamthom or Uachtarain na Tománn.
Leader Name:
Mr James A Grieve.

Was this nation ever in the AR Map?:
No.

- Optional information-

Native Name: (And the language used.)
Poblacht na Tománn. (Irish Gaelic.)

Theme/Style (be more descriptive):
Republic based quite heavilly on the Republic of Ireland, to the extent that our 'national history' (a piece of fiction by Mr T.S. O'Ceallaigh) names our founders as Irish heroes. We also enjoy a slight blending with British politics, if only because the dominant party (the DLP) are British. I believe one of the County flags (currently not available on our website) was a green, orange and white union jack. Running through all of this, we have a tongue-in-cheek formality, as well as something of a 'drinking mentality'. Make of that what you will...

Government Type (Be more descriptive):
As a 'pure' Republic, we recently abandoned regional representation (a County system) in favour of general at-large seats. Elections take place four times a year (or twice for the Executive), and referenda are a common feature. We have an outgoing foreign policy, and an excellent working relationship with the Kingdom of Gotzborg and Grand Commonwealth, who we hold to be our two principle allies. It's also worth mentioning the Special Admin region in our Southern region (The Tománn Republic of East Fealsamthom), which is largely self-governing and historically Socialist in nature. Its formation and continued relative independence have been a constant source of argument and debate within our politics.

Executive name and type:
The Uachtarain na Tománn (President of Talamthom) is the constitutional guardian, and representitive of the People. With limited use of the Right of Decree (Article 5), the President is more than a simple figurehead, and the office has featured in a prominent role throughout our history.

Legislative name and type:
The Dáil Tománn (Parliament of Talamthom) is our Legislative organ, formed from the merging of a 'two tier' system a year or two back. Led by a Speaker elected from their own ranks, our elected Ministers and Prime Minister debate and vote on all new legislation for the Republic, subject to ratification by the President. The Prime Minister is also responsible for appointing the Cabinet portfolios, including Minister of the Interior and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Under an older system, the People had another forum to express their views-- the Citizen's Council, which was essentially a mass referenda on any issue which reared its head. This organ was abolished in early 2005 as part of a general streamlining of government, though the initiative was retained constitutionally -- the People can force a referendum by petition to the Dáil.

Number of Active Citizens:
Between five and seven.
Website Address:
www.talamthom.co.uk/ -- note, the Constitution on display is an out-of-date version.

If you have any further questions, I can be contacted via my office on these fora.
