Invitiation to P:R Members
Some/many of you know I run a MUSH (text-based online RPG), and while speaking with some of the players there about CoH and P:R, some of them said "They sound cool. Invite them here." So, if any of you want to do text-based roleplaying, and have a MUSH or MUD Client (telnet can be used, but it's awful), you could check out the non-graphical side.
We're still in the bumps and throes of startup, but here's some differences between it and CoH:
1) No graphics
2) It doesn't cost anything to play there.
3) It takes up no CPU time practically.
4) You can have a cape.
5) Stuff your character does can affect the game world.
6) You won't be fighting the same villain in the same mission 5 times a week.
7) It's dependent on people, not code. Unfortunately, that means that there's times that no combat is happening. Nothing will usually leap out and attack you. It's easier to socially RP. There are places to go and sit and eat, etc.
9) Plots will be based on specific things, not random.
10) Small, community feel.
11) Very little stuff is automatic or coded.
We use the Hero System (Champions) 5th Edition. It's a very complicated system, although you can make something simple. We've had people who never used the system and had no book be able to chargen.

Don't let Ellis's description of Champions scare you away, either. It's complicated, but it's not too hard to pick up the basics when you're actually playing, and there are plenty of people willing to help you with chargen so you can get to that point. Including me.
