Japanese surrealists?
Does anybody have any links to living or dead Japanese surrealists? Names, anything? I read them referenced a few times in the Rosemonts' writings but didn't find a name.

Japanese Surrealists?
the name "Takiguchi Schuzo" (sometimes listed as Schuzo Takiguchi) comes to mind, as well as the "Butoh".

Part of the problem I think, for Surrealism to take hold in Japan in the period just prior to WWII was the rise in Fascism in Japanese society.

Here are some worthwhile links to investigate:

Shuzo Takiguchi was involved in surrealism in Japan and elsewhere. Butoh has many parallels with surrealism and you can read a good article by Johannes Bergmark on his website...which I don't have the link handy to.
The article is called "Revolt of the Flesh in Japan and a Surrealist Way to Move."
Also, the noise performer Masami Akita who does Merzbow has affirmed solidarity with surrealism, and had a collage published in Arsenal #4 (Chicago, 1989).

Re: Japan
Thanks for the link. I've been wondering about surrealism and Butoh for some time.
