Just One Day (my FM poem)
I wrote this about a year ago,and was recently reminded of it.I thought I would bring it out of the Tar Pits,mostly because over the past year,not only has my health gotten worse,but I've met so many more people who have FM,MPS,and other chronic pain disorders.I suspect my sis,and possibly my neice are affected,as well.And it does tend to run in families.Anyway,I don't write a lot of poetry,and this was written at 4:00AM,on one of those nights when the pain,and soreness was making sure I got no sleep.
Just One Day
Is it too much to ask,
For one day without pain,
Just one day when
I don't need to complain
One day to walk
In the woods,by a stream
And sleep all night through
And maybe,to dream
Just to play with my kids
Down on the floor
Without having to stop
because I'm creaking,and sore
One day when no one says
It's all in your head
When it doesn't hurt
Just to get out of bed
One day not to forget
Where I'm supposed to be
Is it too much to ask
For one day-to be me.

mom, finally!
I've always known of your poetic side. to see you share it openly, that's a gift to the world. this one shows the pain i've seen in you, felt from you empathically. many in the world have lost sight of the beauty of everyday things. but those who cannot do these simple things do understand.
just remember that nothing happens without god/dess's oversight. the only reason you have this is because you can handle it. you are one of the few spirits strong enough to bear this. i have seen how hard it is on you. i have also seen how much stronger you are now than just a couple of years ago. remember that strength.
