Kindergardener Handcuffed *Not tech. a debate*
Im sure most US citizens have seen it... But for those not in the states, the other day there was an unruly little 6 year old (black) girl in school. Ok, noone denys she was in a fit, no one denies she was barely in controll of herself, the child was ripping things from the wall, and striking the asst. principal. Who gently picked her up and set her on the floor and said "no you are not allowed to hit me. (but she did NOT give her time out space and followed her around) Ok, She calms down, is sitting at a table....Enter 2 police officers and 2 trainiees. Three cops cuffed this now calm little girl, her terror written all over her face and drug her by main force from the school. After the fact. After the child was calm and no longer a threat. She then sat in the police car until they got a call from the district attorney saying "we do not make a practice of prosecuting kindergardeners" It sickened me, and normally color isnt an issue with me so I dont mention it, however, I DO have to wonder if this would have been done to a little porcelin skinned blue eyed blonde haired little girl. And know this, In my area, there is a school councilor to talk to the children in a fit. there is also a police officer on duty at all the schools and if the problem cannot be solved in comes the cop and says "since you cant calm down I have no choice but to take you for a ride" Our area cop said most kids are more scared of mom and dad then jail so they DONT tell them they are taking them home VIA cop car....cause u dont have to been 15 to figure out being brought home by a cops gonna get u in tons of trouble. When I was growing up I went to no less then 30 schools, and everyone had a room with very little in it, for the express purpose of calming kids down...it was normally around the principak and councilors office.
Why call the police? EWhy not call cps? or someone else TRAINED to handle children in sressfull situations?
Any thoughts.

Re: Kindergardener Handcuffed *Not tech. a debate*
May I add, that this took place in Florida, which leads the nation in dangerous, criminal 4-9 year olds(I'm being fecetious).More little kids get arrested in Fla.,than in ANY other state. And almost all(IF not all) the kids this has happened to have been black.
And anothe rproblem is, Florida has regulations stating that in the event you want to sue someone for something like this, you must file your intent to sue almost immediately,go through a process of trying to solve the problem outside the courts, and wait 6 months before you can actually sue. Most poorer families cannot afford the lawyers to do this,so unless they find one willing to take the case on a contingency basis, they're screwed.
