Level Restrictions
Up until April, 2004, the only level restriction that AiF has is that you must be planar (46th level). Given the advancement of the guild, we have implemented the following per-class level restrictions. Please note, however, that exceptions may be made to this rule, at the discretion of the guild leadership.
46 - Bard, Monk, Paladin, Warrior, Wizard
50 - Beastlord, Berserker, Cleric, Druid, Enchanter, Magician, Necromancer, Ranger, Rogue, Shadowknight
55 - Shaman
In any case, it should be noted that the median level of the guild is 61. This means that half the members of the guild are at least 61st level. The majority of those are 65 (thus, we're not that far off from a median level of 65). Given this fact, it will be difficult for lower level characters to group with the majority of the guild. LDoN seems to be the popular XP grinding locale, so pre-58, groups may be hard to come by.
And don't forget, a level 65 has more limits on gaining XP than does someone in their 50's. Those 65's need tier 2+ PoP zones or LDoN to get their AA xp. It's not reasonable to expect them to come join you in Velk's or PoN/PoD. For a few reasons, it's better for you to be grouping with others in your own level range:
Better choice of mobs to hunt for your group.
XP won't be gobbled up by the level 65.
You won't have to fight harder mobs needed by a level 65, thus fewer resists, etc.
Virtually all AiF members prefer in-guild groups as opposed to complete pick-up groups. Why? Just because it's much easier to get organized since we know each other's play styles. We all hunt and raid together, so we know our roles well. Once you hit 58, you'll be able to LDoN with anyone in the guild from level 51-65.
The point is that if you choose to apply to AiF, and are not 58th level yet, you could have a hard time grouping within the guild. Raids are entirely different. Typically, planar levels and up are appropriate levels for our raids. For groups, you'll best be served by grinding levels to hit 58 as fast as you can. Get to know the other lower level characters in the guild. Find out their play times and grind up with them.
Grinding isn't all that bad once you set your mind to it. Put off those tradeskills until 58. Put off those alts until your main is 58. Put the nose to the grindstone, and THEN work on those other things. It'll pay off in the long run, and help prevent frustration on your part. Remember: guild members aren't saying they don't like you in this case... it's not personal, so please don't ever feel like it's a personal judgement on you. BTW, if you ever do feel frustrated, let an officer know. We can't do anything to help you if we don't know about it! Anyone who was 65 has been there, felt the frustration during those 50's. Best way to deal with it is to get through it as fast as possible. =)
