{Ok, I'm going to set our little thread in Rivendell. The character I will start with is Brillond Annatar. We'll see how you fair with a little one-on-one then I'll throw in one of my other characters for a little multi-player action:) . Here goes.}

In Rivendell

Brillond rode his stallion into Rivendell. Entering the gates he stopped and slid lightly from the stallions back onto the ground. Brillond wore his usual garb, the browns and greens of the archers of Mirkwood. With him he had his bow and quiver of arrows as always, a small throwing axe hung in a loop in his belt. Looking around he noticed a woman coming out of the house of Elrond. Brillond walked over to her and spoke in a cheerful tone. "Vedui', greetings. Would you know how I might get a chance to talk with Lord Elrond?"

Re: Re:
((Hmm...let's see....ooh, past tense! This will be a nice change:) ))

Ellie looked curiously up at the tall Elf. "If it's urgent, I could find him for you," she answered in a soft, lilting voice. "Or you could see him after the evening meal, when he'll be in the Hall of Fire."

Re: Re:
{Hehe yes, past tense...makes it so much easier and much more fun.}

Brillond nodded and thought for a moment. "I believe I shall wait until after the evening meal then." He looked at the woman before him. "Well, I might as well introduce myself then." Brillond gave a small bow and smiled. "I am Brillond Annatar, son of Arvandor of Mirkwood." He raised an eyebrow. "And you are?"

((Sorry, I don't think so Dee. Maybe you could join in in a bit, but for now I think it's just us.))

Ellie curtsied in return to the bow. "I am Ellienad Telcontar, alone. My parents are dead, they were from Gondor and here in Rivendell." She turned away abruptly. "Come, I will show you to a guest room."

Re: Re:
{Wow Ellienad...for someone who's supposedly not real good at rpging your doing a great job. Oh, Dee...you can join in if you wish.}

Brillonds smile faded as he listened to Ellienad. He spoke again in a more serious tone. "It won't be neccessary to show me to a guest room Ellienad, I live here in Rivendell. Though some think I'm a visitor everytime they see me. I guess I'm too quiet and solitary to be noticed much." Brillond looked at her, speaking in a gentler tone. "I am sorry to here about your parents. Tis hard to lose those who gave you life and love." He looked at the ground for a moment and sighed. "I lost my own mother..." Brillond shook his head. "T'was a rogue band of Orcs that took her life, claimed she had trespassed into their camp and stolen from them when she had only been walking through the woods gathering herbs and wildflowers as she had done often and many times for she loved the forest."

((Oh, thanks...:o Dee, you can join in then))
Ellie sighed. "Yes, and yrch never did need much excuse to slaughter innocent beings. That's not what killed Mum though. She died as a side-effect of marrying Dad." Ellie shuddered slightly. "But please, I'd rather not discuss it."

Brillond nodded. "Ah, so your dad was of the race of men then. I understand. Let us not talk of sad things anymore." He paused. "So, what is new here in Rivendell? I have been in Gondor, and other parts of Middle-Earth for that matter, for some time and I'm afraid I have not been able to keep in touch with anyone here." His voice was lighter as they changed the subject of conversation and began walking. "I suppose it would help if I had a friend here I could keep in touch with, being as quiet and solitary as I am its hard to come by friends."

"Well, nothing new has happened since I got here a few years ago, except that Elves keep leaving for the Havens. I wish they would stay, for the Middle Earth will be a sad place without Elves to uphold the songs and the trees.

"I will be your friend, if you wish it. But it might grieve you, for my livespan is naught but a blink of the eye to Elves. A small laugh with its price payed ten times over in tears."

Brillond smiled. "I would be glad to have you as a friend, mortal or not. You would'nt be the first mortal I've befriended you know." He sighed. "No indeed you wouldn't be. Five mortal friends have I watched grow old and held their hand as they let go of this life. More I know now and some already near the end of their time. It does grieve me to lose them, but if I spent all my time grieving I wouldn't have much of a life." Brillond chuckled softly. "Good friends I am glad for, wether they be immortal or not. Besides, you have some elven in you have you not? Even a little elven blood will expand your lifetime to an exent Ellienad, yea I'm sure you will outlive many though you are mortal." He looked into her eyes. "Do not think you are an unworthy friend to an Elf because you won't live to see the ages pass you by ten fold. A friend is a friend no matter how long they are on this earth with you." Brillond smiled. "If your lifespan is naught but a blink of the eye then I shall not blink at all lest our friendship pass me by. May we share many a laugh to make up for all the tears that may come."

Ellie smiled. "Well, all right then." A bell chimes softly, its gentle twin tones cutting through all the noise. "Come, it's time for the meal."

Brillond listened and smiled. "Ah yes, good it is to here that bell again." He followed Ellienad to the dining hall, breathing in the air as they neared the large room. "Smells wonderful, I must say there is no cook like an Elven cook." They took their seats at a large table and he looked at Ellienad. "So, when did you come to Rivendell?"

Re: Re:
Brillond nodded. "Well, I suppose I shall start at the death of my mother so you understand." He took a bite of the food that had been set in front of him and went on. "After my mother died my father and I grieved greatly. Although what we felt was more distraught anger rather than grief. My mother was not the first elf by far to have been killed by Orcs near and around Mirkwood, many elves have been killed by rogue Orcs and Uruk-Hai who for the most part wander leaderless and un-organised since the fall of Orthanc and Saruman. There are a few hidden settlements though." He paused to swollow. "At first the killings were quite rare as the Uruks and Orcs mostly fought amongst themselves, then there began to be skirmishes along the borders of Mirkwood, the Shire, Gondor, and other places. As more Orcs and Uruks wandered about between borders more Elves began to go missing or were found dead or seriously wounded. My father, as all the lords of Mirkwood as well as the king of Mirkwood, was angered by what the Orcs were doing and felt that the Elves of Lorien and Rivendell were more concerned with protecting themselves than with what was happening to their brothers in Mirkwood." Brillond took another bite of his food and sipped some water from a glass. "Don't get me wrong, we didn't love our brothers and sisters in Lorien and Rivendell any less. We were just dissapointed that they didn't seem to notice what was happening. In anycase the death of my mother was the final straw for father. He sent me to Rivendell to keep me from getting killed as at the time I was but a youth and was about to join a group of youth in Mirkwood who were starting their own, un-authorised shall we say, malitia to fight the bands of Orcs and Uruks." Brillond sighed and shook his head. "He also sent me to Rivendell to let others know what was really going on in Mirkwood. Since then much has happened in the effort to squeltch the rogue bands of Orcs and Uruks that the killings, kidnappings, and injuries can hopefully be put to an end. Every month it seems I hear of another elf that has been hurt, killed, or has gone missing." He smiled wearily and continued to eat. "In anycase, I have been traveling the past few months as a messenger of Elrond, summoning the allied races of Middle-Earth to the house of Elrond. There is to be a council in effort to do something about the Orcs and Uruks before they have a chance to form kingdoms of their own and start a war that could be avoided if something is done about it now." He looked at Ellienad. "So you are studying under some elves? What are you studying, if you don't mind my asking?"

Re: Re:
"Mostly the histories, and Quenya and poetry. And maps and literature. A little bit of magic, and fighting. I'm getting quite good with my rowan staff, and I can outrun most horses. Not Shadowfax or his brethen of course, but most horses. And I can dance as well as any Elf." Just then, some music started. It was mostly vocal, but some flutes and recorders ran harmonies beneath. Ellie stood up. "Watch, I'll show you." She weaves her way through the crowds to the dance floor and joins in the dancing. Lith as an Elf, she sings with a high voice like a child as she gracefully leaps and twirls about, never with a partner, making up steps as she goes.

Re: Re:
*Brilliond watched her, amazed at her prowess. He did not notice someone coming up behind him, he was so absorbed by her steps. A soft, musical voice spoke behind him.*
"Suilad, Brilliond of Mirkwood. It has been a long time!"
*Brilliond turned around startled to face Elawen, Elrond's youngest daughter. She had grown since the last time he had seen her. A woman now, beautiful and self-assured. But something twinkled in her eyes that reminded him of the child he had once known.*
Brilliond: Elawen?! You've grown so much!
Elawen:*laughing* Don't you just hate it when someone says that?
Brilliond:*blushing* Forgive me, I meant no offense..
Elawen: Hush!*Sh egave him a hug* I've missed you my friend!

Re: Re:
*With nobody paying attention, Daisy walked up behind them writing in a book. She was writing a story that she thought up herself. A story about her life, her friends, and her family. Next she knows, she accidentally bumps into Elfie.*
Elfie: Hey!... Oh Sorry Dee. Didn't know it was you.

Daisy: *gathering up her book, ink and quill* Uh... It's my fault, Elfie. I wasn't watching where I was going. Sorry. I was too much into writing my story.

Brilliond: *bows* Princess Daisy! This is a surprise.

Daisy: *looking confused* Um... Do I know you from somewhere?

Brilliond: I do believe we have met before. When you walked through Mirkwood. I am Brilliond.

Daisy: *whiping sweat from her forehead* Um... I can not remember. Your face does not ring a bell.

Re: Re:
Brillond nodded at Daisy. "Well I suppose that was quite some time ago, not to worry. We were both rather preoccupied with our own thoughts at the time so I don't imagine you can remember everything." He bowed again and turned to Elawen. "I have missed you too Elawen, it is wonderful to see you again." Brillond glanced in the direction of Ellienad who was still dancing then back at Elawen. "Is your father busy? I have news of the skirmishes for him."

{OOC: As you notice, I post in a rather past tense sort of way. Its the way of rpging that I'm used to actually, just seems more realistic to me. So I apologize for not really rping in the same format as you all are. I'll make sure my posts are easily understood though, no worries. Oh, btw, please read the first page of this thread to best understand what Brillond might say or do later on(or now...depends.). Anywho..great to meet you Elfie and Dee:) }

Re: Re:
((Actually I like your way much better. It's a relief after all the p.t. I get at other boards.))

The song finished. Ellie stopped, breathless. As the last strands of music died away, she glanced around, searching for Brillond in the small sea of faces. She spotted Elrond first, talking to Glorfindel and some others. Then, she saw Brillond, talking to Elawen and Daisy. She walked over to them. "Brillond, Elrond is just over there," she gestured to where he was standing. "Hullo, Elfie, and Dee."

Brillond smiled at Ellienad. "Thank you Ellienad, I shall talk to him if I can get to him." He gave a small bow to the maidens before him. "Elawen, Princess Daisy, It was a pleasure seeing you two again." He smiled at Ellienad. "Ellienad, I greatly enjoyed eating supper with you, I hope we can get to know each other better before I get sent off somewhere again." Brillond chuckled. "By the way, your dancing is lovely and your voice is even better." Turning he wound his way through the small crowd of people that were milling about after the meal and gave a low bow before Elrond. "Lord Elrond, I have returned from the borders of Mirkwood and Rohan whence you sent me. I have important news to discuss with you and information vital to the upcoming council." Looking up Brillond glanced at the people all around them. "It may be wise my lord to discuss it in a more private place as well."
