My son Andrew has Asperger's Syndrome and I have to devote a lot of time to helping keep him focused on schoolwork. He has a strong aversion to handwriting. There's more homework every year, plus we've removed some of the "crutches" that he used to need but ended up keeping him from working independently. 8th grade was a really tough year for us and I didn't get to spend much time "schmoozing" online this past year.
The entire first half of our summer has been devoted to an online Algebra course that Andrew is taking to be ready for the math and science magnet program he's going to be in when he starts high school in August. We have done math every single day......including the Independence Day holiday yesterday! This is the last week and the End of Course Test is the 11th. Woo Hoo!
I spent a little time online today checking out favorite bands and places we've attended concerts in the past so we could plan a little post Algebra R & R, but came up dry. I work every other weekend (nights) and it always seems like my schedule runs exactly contrary to the Christian concert scene around Atlanta.
So how's everyone else's summer going? Good holiday?
