Meri's Poetry
((Oooo! A place to put my depressing poetry I wrote in class last semester! ))
The first one I'll post is called "Sorrow" ((which is my favorite, but my teacher called "Melodramatic and cliche". Of course, that teacher was also against my writing fantasy...))
"Sorrow" by Meri
Tears falling from my eyes
Darkness all around
Shadows moving closer, closer
Life is a starless sky
Nothing but gloom
Gloom and the dawnless night
Don’t worry; we’ll be together soon
Soon? What is this Soon
All I see is an eternity
Time stretching bleakly
Across the ages
Never-ending torment
Like a thousand daggers
Prodding at my soul
No one understands
Everything’s so empty
All alone
Vast stretch of nothingness
Life is nothing
Only a black and gray haze
Standing alone in the dark
Longing for things that once were
But things that once were
Will one day be
The sun will break free
Scatter the shadows
Release me from my cave

*applauds* Wow, Meri, I love that... it's so sad and yet full of hope... *waiting for more... * Good to know I'm not the only one writing depressing poetry... hehe...

Thanks! It's good to know someone liked it! Here's another poem I wrote for that class- it's much more upbeat. (I think I got a better grade on this one.)
"On the Wing" by Meri
~Fly~
With wings outstretched
Cannot be caged.
~Soar~
With wind in my hair
Freedom cannot be kept away.
~Light~
No shadow can pierce me.
~Happy~
No darkness can overcome me.
~Change~
Like the clouds
I embrace it but stay the same.
~Color~
Like the sky
I am both light and dark.
~Free~
Lighthearted
As a bird in flight.
