Re: Moose
It would be easier to discuss with a bit of background info, like who is encountering moose and under what circumstances. Basically, tho, moose energy has to do with survival, adapatability, awareness, strong female energy. Moose folk are often contradictory, solitary, very psychic, good with life & death stuff. Moose energy is primal. Strong. You don't choose it - it chooses you.

Don't have any connection to moose energy myself, but my mother is oozing with the stuff, so I'm pretty familiar with it. What exactly would you like to know?

Wow....it is very powerful and mystical!! Everything you said Earthnnan. I just read the message in my book. The book I use for animal lessons is "Animal Speak" by Ted Andrews!! It is awesome. I liked all the info he gave about moose, and I will be willing to type it in here if you want Ladiravenmoon!:hug

Re: Moose
I have the book Animal Speak I read up on the moose, thank you for the offer to type it up for me, :) I wanted to hear of personal knowledge of the moose as a totem. I have always been fascinated with the moose, its enormous size and strength, they are amazing animals. I also have had them in dreams quite often. so any thing you can offer up in the info department is very much appreciated. Can't wait to hear more.

Re: Moose
Okay, I’ll give you a description of how moose energy fits into my mom’s personality and see if that gives you something to go on. Keep in mind that this is someone who does not know anything about totems and would think it’s a bunch of hooey if you told her. She has no interest whatsoever in intentionally "using" moose energy for any type of work. She just naturally is.

She was not a nurturing parent, but was fiercely protective of her children and was totally focused on teaching us to be independent and self-sufficient. My father was in the military, and she endured many years of separation, being solely responsible for household & kids, usually in unfamiliar places. She’s extraordinarily psychic, uses it often, and is very surprised if someone makes a big deal out of it. It’s very natural to her; she just always “knows”.

She was raised in a time period where women’s roles were very specifically defined and yet managed to totally escape definition – you might find her doing needlework or teaching a bellydancing class; you might find her resetting the timing on the car or stomping around a mountain hunting elk. Another contradictory thing about her is the fact that she is small (about 5'5 and 130 or so) and sickly (suffers horribly from asthma) and yet she has extraordinary stamina. In her mid 60s she was still carrying 50 lb. backpacks up 12,000 feet into the mountains on hunting trips. She went to NYC last year for a weekend with her much younger sister-in-law and her friends, and they had a hard time keeping up with her.

Shapeshifting abilities in her manifest more along the lines of physical in terms of her appearance extremes – flowers in her waist-length hair and a fancy dress one day; full camo stalking wild boar the next. In addition, it was difficult to go my own way as a teen without her showing up in some form or another and catching me – she was always where I least wanted her to be.

She communicates with the dead. She would never use those words, but often does things based on a dream about someone who has passed over. She also can feel the presence of folk long-gone based on scent - she might smell violets when there are none, and then channel a little message from her mom (who absolutely loved violets) without even realizing she's doing it.

She loves water. When we lived in places near water, that’s where we hung out. When we lived in places without water, she managed to always have either a pond or a pool in the yard. Oh, yeah - moose is one of her favorite animals and she’s spent a lot of time with them in the wild (NOT hunting them, just hanging with them - most recently with a camcorder on a glacier in Alaska). I could go on, but you get the picture.

So – there’s an example of someone with a lot of natural moose energy who simply lives it. I hope that’s been helpful to you.

Re: Moose
Yeah, she is pretty amazing.

I wanted to add just one specific example of being aware of and working with animal totems. If I were doing spiritual healing work with my mother - which I am not, because I have not been asked – the first thing I would look at is her moose energy. It’s imbalanced as hell - she’s got WAY too much of it.

She’s asthmatic. She’s gone the traditional western medicine route for years, and it has not been of much benefit. She’s older and has many health problems, so herbal remedies are not a good idea because they could counteract or interfere with the meds she’s taking. Knowing that she has strong moose energy and knowing that one of the characteristics of moose is that they dive deep and can hold their breath for a long time, a healer who chose to help her balance out her moose energy would probably be successful in reducing her asthma symptoms.

Animal Speak is an excellent reference tool. One of the things I like about Ted Andrews is that he does focus on balance, and has excellent advice for his readers on how to consider both the positives and negatives of animal energies when learning to work with them.

Re: Moose
Wow....Earthnann....have you ever read "Messages from the Masters", by Brian Weiss?? Sometimes the ailments that we have in this life, have come with is into this lifetime. I remember he speaks of asthma in one of his patients as being asphyxiated in his past life.

Louise Hay say's in her book, "Heal Your Body", the probable cause is: Smother Love. Inability to breathe for one's self. Feeling stifled. Suppressed crying. Affirmation: It is safe now for me to take charge of my own life. I choose to be free.

Just wanted to pass this on. Don't know if this applies or not.:hug
