In blackest night when you're fast asleep
Terrible creatures through the darkness creep
Foul, torturous, grotesque and fell
On mischievous errands from the depths of hell
While in pleasant dreams you rest
They approach, unwanted darksome guests
Of your sleep which is disturbed
You begin to toss, and then to turn
As from your dreams all goodness flees
Lost in the darkness these creatures weave
Slowly they invade your innocent sleep
Unwholesome shapes you can't quite see
You try to run but you're paralysed
You cannot wake, though hard you try
You heart pounds fast, your body sweats
Icy tremors run down your neck
Floating eyes in the darkness gleam
A sudden flash of yellowing teeth
Slowly the nameless horrors approach
And with chill fingers reach for your throat
Until that second when you awake
On the back of a scream that makes the bedroom quake
Just a residue of fear remains
Uncomfortable memories to haunt your day
But dawn has yet to break the night
So you roll over and close your eyes
And slowly sink back into sleep
That secret realm where dark things creep
I like your poems! I hope you keep up the good--no great-- work.

Re: Nightmares
Thanks, you're too kind :-)
Those two are all I've got...I've kind of lost my talent hahaha. I wrote them (and a whole lot more which I've since lost) some months ago, but I've just kind of lost it, I can't think of any good ideas like those two. I guess it'll come back eventually. I was working on what I hoped would be a long epic poem telling the tale of two people deeply in love...but I had to give that up becase I realised I was basically re-writing the tale of Beren and Luthien! The details were quite different, but the story is pretty similar. I need to come up with a better story. I'd actually really love to write one about my Angel (Rabeena), but I'm just not good enough to do her justice.
