Gina, I'm not a priest, but if I were, you'd be absolved. Haha...Catholic humor.

Anywho, the show freakin rocked. Great music...annoying crowd in some ways....crowdsurfers, drunk, druggie frat boys, fighters....but in my immediate vicinity was a beautiful girl, with a gorgeous smile...think the most beautiful thing about her was the way she let the music move her. But I heard most of the songs I wanted to hear the most...Delicate Few, Poker, Hey Girl, City on Down, Get Away....they played Night Shift, though there was no segue into Stir It Up, which I was looking forward to singing. And Marc only signed a few autographs for the more aggressive fans...I figured that I wouldn't be pushy.

I respect you're taste in music Dave... but I just don't get OAR. I know a lot of people really love that band, but they've just never hit me in the right way. I dunno. I mean no disrespect, maybe there is just somethin i'm missing- i'll give em another chance for you though ;)

Re: OAR!
it's okay Lang...I'll give SUR's music another chance. :rollin

I kid because I care.

That's cool...not everyone does dig OAR. Case in point, see this thread. But that's what makes us the individuals we are, eh? We all have different tastes, and I think arenas like this board give us a chance to share our opinions and our tastes, with the possibility that we might learn about new artists that we hadn't heard of before. Or confirm or refute the perceived coolness of others. (I jest.) I find that OAR is good driving music for me...which is handy, with quasi-frequent trips to Houston. And sometimes, their songs really hit me when I'm in a funk.

Get Away...."I say to myself, she ain't worth it, she ain't worth nothing I got"--good for reminding myself how I'm better off without her after ending a relationship.

CIty on Down - "In the end, my friend, we will all be together again"--just hopeful for me.

And Hey Girl....
"Hush little baby
Don't say a word.
I'd like to give you everything that you deserve.
I'll give you my heart, give you all my soul.
You can have all my money, if you'd like you can have control.
In my mind, I miss you.
Every night that you're not here.
Oh, I just want to sit around your life and breathe your air.
And if I cannot have you, I just don't wanna live.
Oh, I've got so much I'd like to give.
Hey girl, come with me and let yourself go"

(Maybe that's just the hopeful romantic in me speaking out wanting to be given a chance. :) )

Sometimes it's the words, sometimes it's just the melodies and drums--the music itself, that just drives me, that moves me.

But again, different things move different people. I think I'm moved by a lot; I have a pretty eclectic mix of CD in my CD holder right now...everything from acoustic, to old skool jamz to Latin (i.e., salsa and Gipsy Kings...none of that Tejano stuff) to big band/neo-swing stuff. A little metal, a little country...if it moves me, then I won't push it away because it's a certain genre.

Side note: Lang, whenever you post, it's always something very profound, almost philosophical...I dig it. It inspires me to post more meaningful things....sometimes. Then again, it's just fun to post completely random stuff. :lol

Re: OAR!
i'm with you there lang. they're ok party music, but to me its disposable. my biggest annoyance though is the hardcore oar fans.

Re: OAR!
haha...right now i have this amazingly hilarious mental pic of you, lang, and myself staring each other down in a bar room showdown over the merits of oar.

and yes, we all listen to something that someone surely thinks is not worthy. i'd tell you mine, but i don't want to give you the ammunition to bring me down in our showoff.

thats cool
see dave... that's awesome- now i have a better understanding of why OAR means something to you... while i may not be able to apply it to myself particularly, it's still interesting to see what moves other people and why. totally cool. as is the idea of a showdown... but can i request the use of ninja swords in this scenario please?

Hmm...

I think OAR is cool. We all have our "guilty pleasures."
