Ok...I know you've all seen the Harry Potter movie...
...who is willing to admit it?
Actually, I still think the idea that Harry Potter and LotR automatically have to compete with each other is absolutely ludicrous. The two films should be completely different! And it's not like people have to choose to see one film or the other--LotR fans will likely see both! Older Harry Potter fans will likely see both! Everyone benefits!
I said all along that if the Harry Potter movie did well, it would boost LotR, and if it tanked, it would do the opposite--well, the time has come and the Harry Potter movie is breaking records. I hope this is a good sign (although I have this sinking feeling when I remember that Harry Potter was practically written to be a film--I don't think she planned it that way, but if she had it couldn't be any more appropriate--while LotR is any filmmaker's worst nightmare).
So...favorite parts, anyone? Favorite characters? Worst special effect? (Blue screen! Blue screen! Who couldn't tell? But hey, it wasn't supposed to be realistic, was it? LotR should really wow the crowds, one hopes...)
