Only a walk
Raven was in the foggy glenn, for no real reason. In all honesty she'd made a wrong turn and then decided that she could only get more lost before finding home. So she kept walking taking in what she could remembering old times in another place.
She sighed heavily and looked about. She headed towards the hot springs and layed down on her belly listening to the water and the sounds around her. She'd let some time pass since she'd come to Deadwood Pack before she had made any outings. She felt a little out of sorts. The other female seemed, she wasn't sure, and the beta really seemed insane. But first impressions weren't all that they seemed and she was willing to give some room for a true impression and personality. She would hold off on judging for awhile.

Midnight hued paws stirred the fog as the beta limped through the glens, intent on finding a quiet place to ,lick his wounds. Literally. And he didn't care where he went as long as it was away from the rest of the pack...
he was actually suprised he was still alive, period. that feline could have killed him, yet chose not to. Actually, there was no way he could hunt with a wounded, magled paw likethe one he sported. On top of that, he could feel the fever rising, getting worse every day. swoon, he would lay down and never rise again...He knew it...and accepted it calmly.
Re: Only a walk
Raven stirred catching Jorns scent. And the smell of blood. Being the way she was, even if he was a crazy, she followed the scent. She figured there had been some kind of spat that she knew nothing about. She tended to stay out of Jorns way, never really trusting him.
However she was worried and upon finding him she nudged him softly.
"Who did this?" She said queitly try to figure out where to start the cleaning.

Jorn jumped, feeling a cold nose on his fever-heated shoulder. it was the fey, raven....and her nose was cold. He shifted away uneasilly. "it was that damned cat and his crow buddy."
Vaugly, he wondwred where Pala was. he laid his head on his good paw and closed his eyes wearilly. "Can't you just go away?" His voice, however, lacked the usual anger and acidity it usually held, his strength being sapped by the high fever he was running.
Re: Only a walk
"Shh, let me take a look at you and see what I can do for you," she said it softly, ignoring what could have sent her off.
She went to the water and found that she could clean the wounds there easily, but she would have to be human first and so, even though she didn't want him to see her as a human female she went back to him and changed skins.
Staying low to the ground she picked him up and took him to the waters. she set him down gentely and was a wolf again. As careful as she could, she tried to beat sickness and fever with the waters of the springs and a healing tunge.

The brute struggled, but her strength won out over his own, which had been sorely depleteted by the fight with Old cat. In the end, he simply allowed her to administer to him, but knew it wouldn't help.
He was dying. An inner clock told him so. Even so, he had to keep his dignity, had to keep his composure. He attempted to get up, but fell down heavilly, his last bit of will sapped by the gesture. "Damn it, Raven, go away."
Live alone, die alone. It had always been his motto.
Only a walk
"Hush Jorn, just let me help," again in that soft tone.
She kept cleaning him up trying to find clean fur under the blood. Even though he was mad, even though had he been better she wouldn't of done this she nuzzled him softly. If cleaning him up annoyed him then afffection might help make him stirr more, make him angry enough to live.
She hummed softly in her mind cleaning and being gentle to him. Trying to make him better. It was what she had done, during the massure that took away her home, her pack.

"Leave me alone. Please...." He didn't care if he died, he just wanted her to stop being so bloody nice. He didn't deserve her kindness. He didn't want it. He didn't want it at all.
The fever continued to rise as the male laid there. Finally, he tired of her kindness and snapped at her paw, trying to scare her off like he had before. "It's no d@mn good, yuo silly fool. I'm going to die anyways. Just let me go. Get the others... If they even care." He doubted they would.

"Shut up Jorn. You know its too far and they wont hear my call from here." She kept cleaning, and nudgeing here and there. She went to the spring to clean out her mouth, and bring water to herself.
After a few moments she got inventive, and was abble to bring him water held in a bowl/cup stone she had found.
"Drink," she ordered. And then she layed next to him curling around him cleaning being gentle, trying to let him see what kindness was before he passed.

He fought against her, but had to drink anyways, even though his lips were so swollen and parched he barely got any down. He closed his eyes, a rattle beginning to be audible in his breathing.
"this isn't how it was supposed to be..." In his delerium, he was beginning to ramble. "I was supposed to tame her, be her mate...we were supposed to rule together...and that cat...that damnded cat...and the golden ones...and the birds...damn it, the birds..."
He began to cough, violent spasms, that racked his whole body, shaking the midnight hued beta, once so strong and able, albiet a tad insane. The sad thing was, he was more rational in his thinking when he was delerious than when he was at full health. Once his spasms were over he just laid there, breathing heavilly, the ratle clearly audible now. He tried one last time to shoo the fey away. "Please, raven...as your beta, I demand you leave." A planitive note in his voice, he spoke softer, "I don't want anyone to see me this way..."
Re: Only a walk
"Shh.., Jorn I am not going to leave you. I get you don't want anyone to see you like this. But Iam pack, I am family. I wont leave you. You never leave family, not like this." She kept her voice soft. She moved to the side a bit more and tried to help him get some of the water down, though it was a fruitless effort.
It was then she did something very out of the ordinary, to kissed him nose to nose. The male needed to understand, he might be crazier then a loon but when it came down to it, he was family, and that was all that mattered to her.
"Easy Jorn, let me stay. I want to easy the pain, just let me help . Let me do what I can." she told him again, as she nuzzled him gently and did all things affection called for.

The male closed his eyes again, acqueising to her gentle ministrations. without a word, he just nuzzled closer. Fine...if she wanted to stay, she could. He didn't quite care now. Not much was running through his mind. However, that was a good thing. That meant he had no regrets. He had no worries about making peace with his maker, either.
He simply laid against raven, his eyes closed, his breathing shallow and rattle laden. he knew it wouldn't be much longer, could feel it in his bones. Finally, his breathing slowed, then ceased to be all together. His spirit had fled, leaving sipmly an empty husk.
Re: Only a walk
As she stayed near Jorn and finallt nuzzled and snuggled close to him. She knew one thing, he would die. But he would know some kind of love or gentleness before he pasted. There was a deep sadness in her when she accepted that he wouldn't live.
As his spirit fled to the other world, she whinned and whimpered. Once he was truely gone she let out a sad howl letting everyone know he was gone. Raven was torn, for a few moments she had liked jorn, perhaps because he was different in his dieng then in his life and she was greatful to no longer worry about having to watch her back with him.
Re: Only a walk
He heard the plainitive howl and it sent a chill through him. He lifted his silvering muzzle to the sky and howled a reply-to let her know he was close. Some sense of loss filled him-and he needed to know what had happened.
The old wolf dashed up the path, ears forward, sharp eyes watching the world fly past him. He smelled blood, he smelled Raven, he smelled death...and he smelled Jorn...
"Raven, Raven, where are you?"
"Wild Spirit, which art moving everywhere;
Destroyer and preserver; hear, oh, hear!"
Re: Only a walk
She let out another sadness filled howl. Long and loud, when it was over she heard the gamma, and let out a another howl to show him where she was.
Close to water that was cool and the dead body of Jorn. Raven had a saddness to her body, that was odd, since she hadn't trusted him, but she felt some kind of duty to him as he was dying.
She washed her face in the water and was clean, but the scent of Jorns death lingered in her nose and the taste of his blood haunted her mouth.
Re: Only a walk
"Raven! Raven!" He sounded panicked, afraid of what Jorn might've done to her-but when he broke around the clearing, his racing heart slowed and he breathed a sigh of relief-until his good eye fell on Jorn's dead form.
"Great spirits...Raven, what's happened? Are you all right?" He asked with a plaintive urgency, hoping this was not what it seemed. Then he caught a new scent...an old feline musk...he relaxed.
"Wild Spirit, which art moving everywhere;
Destroyer and preserver; hear, oh, hear!"
Re: Only a walk
Raven had saddness in her eyes and even a tear or two as well. She went over to Idrian and layed her muzzle on his shoulders.
"The feline killed him. He came here to die, I stayed with him til he finally let go." She rubbed her forehead against him like a pup would for reasurance. Then placed it back on his shoulders.
"He seemed so clear in the end, but I don't know who he ment. All I know is that he didn't die alone."
She was truely saddened by this, it hurt her heart to see someone die, even if that someone had been a raving loonely.
Re: Only a walk
Comfortingly, he nuzzled her in return. "It will be all right, Raven..." he felt a strange fury in him. Jorn was mad, true...but to die like this? To die at the claws of a cougar? It was wrong...just...wrong. Plain as that. He was taken by a melancholy dark and deep as what he had felt before-and he raised his face skyward and howled a low, rolling, unearthly bellow-a low note that grew lower as the howl went on, until it faded in his throat with a whisper.
The pack had taken a blow. And it had been a younger wolf...that much more strength, lost to the winds...and a bloody cat.
"Wild Spirit, which art moving everywhere;
Destroyer and preserver; hear, oh, hear!"
Re: Only a walk
Raven didn't move,, just stayed their listening to the howl, eventually she lifted her own head to cry out a howl of her own. It was sad and full of anger and pain, ahowl she had only truely used once before.
She wasn't sure what to do, how to deal with his body. His sould was gone, there was only a body left to look at. Raven hadn't understood it all, but what had killed him she wanted to take apart, and it came out in her voice.
Re: Only a walk
The howls the snow pelted fey heard shook her to her core. The grief inherent in them indicated an ill omen for the pack. And then the anger struck her in the two voices. And worry consumed the fey. She took to her paws, racing towards the howls, a silken ghost in the fog. The closer she got, the stronger the scent of blood was. Her mind went blank with fear. She had the sudden fear that it was Deacon stricken down. And then what would they do?
She arrived in the clearing, her heart racing, her breath coming at a quick pant. "What-" She cut off as she saw Idrian comforting Raven. Then her bicolored eyes noted the prone form lying a little bit away. Jorn. A frown crossed her face. She walked over and studied the body, turning with a half frown to the others. "He died?" Almost as if she didn't believe it, almost as if she were...glad.
Pala had been out searching for Jorn when she heard the cries. Not being a wolf, she didn't understand the message hidden the the depths of the vocalizations. So she flew to where they came from, alighting on a brach overhead. her eyes widened as she saw Deuce standing over Jorn's inert body, and Idrian and Raven tied inan intimate embrace. Misinterpreting the situation, she flew at Deuce, screeching angrilly. "You killed him! You took advatage of his weakness and killed him, you b*tch!"
Statled by the raveness's action, Deuce sipmly swatted her away from her head with a gesture reminiscent of a cat swatting at a speck in the air. She looked at the other two with bewilderment.
Re: Only a walk
Raven had ignored Deuce she was not ready to explain the bird came screaming: "You killed him! You took advatage of his weakness and killed him, you b*tch!"
And Raven flew at the bired as if she were trying to kill it. "Birds, and a cat that's what killed him, that's what he said." She went after the bird, the full sound of her fury coming out in growls and barks. She was pissed, and she was giving a good show. It was an explosion of emotion.
