Ortesh, prince of light
name: Ortesh Leyrune
age: three years
color: white with black and silver markings on back
eyes: silvery blue, with black crystal like markings
gender: male
mate: none
pups: none
A white figure moved gracefully across the land, the tall grass whisking against its legs.
Ortesh walked easily up to the riverbank, looking down at the white frothy water. But even for being so spirited, the river was crystaline in its clearness and smelled fresh with the scent of a cool mountain breeze. It reminded him of home.
Back home, in the mountains, things like this were not uncommon. Though it was rare to see such open, grassy plains often. Most of the year it was snowy, but the summers were warm and flowers bloomed, bringing life back to the land.
"The Hiplas..." he murmered, staring at his reflection in the water. "... how I miss them." His silvery eyes stared deeply into the water, observing his own appearence. In his pack, he had been a real beauty, and most who met him agreed, but he didn't really know what to think. He was far too kind hearted to worry about such things.
The black and silver streaks on his back, and the black line that ran down his nose, contrasted brightly to the whiteness of his coat. He looked out across the plain. "Surely someone will be along soon," he sighed, letting his strong voice disappear into the wind.

Deuce watched her pups frolic lightheartedly. The three were bautiful, even more so since they were hers. She'd always wondered what it would be like to be a mother, and now she knew. They were her pride and joy, her favorite reason for living.
The snow hued alphess perked her ears up as a voice sighed something nearby. An odd scent came toher and she barked sharply, calling her pups to her side. She strode regally to where the male sat, awaiting an arrival. Waiting for someone?
Her voice was suitably frosty for the alphess of the majestic vista packlands, as were her bi-colored eyes.
Re: Ortesh, prince of light
Ortesh turned toward the snowy female that approached him. Her coat was like the mountain snow, fresh and bright in the morning. "Yes," he said, bowing to her. "Actually, I was."
He looked back up at her from his elegant pose, stretching his forelegs out in front of him. Sure, it wasn't the normal way of doing things, but to him this display meant more than cowering before her. This wasn't her territory but, still, he would respect her.
"I was looking to join one of the local packs," he said, sitting back on his rump. He kept his head low, as to not offend her.
He knew he shouldn't have, but he couldn't help looking at her. "What beauty..." he thought, glancing between her and the ground at her feet. "No wolf could possibly have her beauty..."
"It would be an honor to join a pack with someone like yourself," he smiled a little at her. He wasn't trying to be a jerk, but he at least thought that if he was nice to her, she might put in a good word for him to the alpha. He saw how she shielded her pups from him.
Pups. He suddenly realized that he shouldn't have been so filandering. She most likely had a mate, in her pack, who would surely not appreciated his flirtatious comments.
Ortesh looked away from her then, feeling very embarrassed by the whole ordeal.
Re: Ortesh, prince of light
She couldn't help but to smile at his comment, her eyes warming slightly. And what do you believe you could offer to the local packs? Besides, of course, your charm?
She stepped lightly on Angel's tail when she went to inspect the stranger, pulling her back with her brothers. She cocked her head and looked up at the male, noting his embarassment. Do not be so embarrased. Bluntly, she continued, I have no mate to take injury at your words. Therefore, you have no reason to be embarrased.
When her son, Gavin tried to push through her paws, she leaned down and nipped him. Not hard enough to cause real injury, just hard enough to remind him that mommy was still bigger, and still was in charge. He was going to turn out like his father. All brute strength, and a clear cut leader. Gavin yelped, but contiuned to try to push his way past, to inspect the male himself. Deuce sighed and nudged him back, growing weary of his antics. Then again, her pack was so small, she only had three members total, besides the pups. So she had no pup sitter to watch the pups.
Re: Ortesh, prince of light
Ortesh looked back to her, his eyes alive with light, the youthfull hope of his younger years showing through. He hadn't acted this way since he was just a pup, only a year and a half old.
He smiled, chuckling softly at the young pup. He wondered what it was like to have that kind of patience. The kind needed to be a parent. He realized now what a handfull he himself must have been when he was a pup.
"I am a good hunter," he said to her, looking away from the pup's playing. "Every wolf knows that a pack with pups needs all the hunters it can get." He smiled at her, trying to be friendly.
Pups. He had no pups. Come to think of it, his pack hadn't really had any pups since he was little. He cocked his head, looking down at them. He growled very soft and let out a kind woof at the pup, egging him on.
"I'm good at making decisions," he said, thinking back to her question. "I'm impartial, if that's helpfull. Most of the time I see the good and the bad in things. If you ever needed a second opinion..."
He waited, wondering what she would say to his remarks, or his goading of the pup.
“My place has been in this world since the dawn of time,” he said. “And even after this body is frozen in the eternal wait of death, I will still be here in this world…”
Re: Ortesh, prince of light
Deuce listened as the male replied, her mind taking in his words as she watched Gavin continue to try to reach him. When he chuffed softly at the pup, she relented, and allowed him to go explore the male. Truthfully, you've impressed me thus far, yet....I do not know your name as of yet.
She watched as Gavin quickly sized up the male, baring his teeth at him, his tiny hackles raising. Angel backed closer to her mother, her silken fur blending in perfectly with her mother's. She glanced back and saw her third child, her tiny son, crouching in the brush. He almost appered to be stalking the male.
Re: Ortesh, prince of light
He watched as the pup bared his teeth, assuming a position. Inside, Ortesh laughed at the tiny pup.
"But who may you be?" he said kindly. "It is only polite to give your own name before asking another's" He paused, letting her take in what he had said. "But I am Ortesh, if you must know."
He lowered his nose, poking it closer to the young pup, sniffing in the pup's scent, before puffing it back out at him.
"Quite I fighter you've got here," he said, looking back up at the female. "He'll be a handfull when he gets older... trust me, I know." Ortesh was a skilled fighter, come to think of it. He was quick and agile, and his lean build added for greater mobility. He hadn't made a habit of fighting in his latter years, actually avoiding them if possible. But when he was a pup he had picked many a fight, some of which required his father to get him out of.
“My place has been in this world since the dawn of time,” he said. “And even after this body is frozen in the eternal wait of death, I will still be here in this world…”
Re: Ortesh, prince of light I'll give my name when i'm ready, ortesh. Only amusement tinged her vocals as she watched him and Gavin, her little battle hawk, play. Each pup was living up to it's name. Even Angel, who was more or less named for Deacon's affectionate nickname for her.
With a jolt, she realized she missed the male. Of course she missed him. He was the father of her pups. She laughed softly as Gavin danced backwards from the male's breath.
And if you get a place within Majestic vista....what do you think the pack can do for you? A play on Deacon's method of questioniing. At least she wan't making him prove himself as she had done. then again, she'd been trying to get the position as his alphess, and won scout instead. But she was the alphess of her own pack now.
Re: Ortesh, prince of light
Ortesh chuckled at the pup's eagerness, then looked back to the female. What could the pack do for him? He thought about it.
Well, a pack would be his family, once he joined. He could start a new life there. The way she said it though, it only made him think of cheap answers for a minute. And he couldn't give any of those, that would make him seem ungratefull.
"They can be my new family," he said spiritedly. "We can help support each other, physically and emotionally... Not that I'm saying I'm emotionally unstable." He felt so embarrassed now. "What a fool I make of myself..." he thought.
He looked toward the little white pup by the female's feet. It was uncanny how much the pup resembled her.
"They're awefully cute," he said, his mind wandering. "I'd ask their names, but I doubt you'd give it." He thought back to the question at hand. "I don't really know; I'm not there yet."
“My place has been in this world since the dawn of time,” he said. “And even after this body is frozen in the eternal wait of death, I will still be here in this world…”
Re: Ortesh, prince of lighta well put answer, the lithe mother murmured. She was most impressed with this male.
When he asked the pups names, she smiled, always eager to show off her little darlings. my daughter is Angel. Her oldest brohter, the one you're playing with, is gavin, and then my last son, the one hiding in the brush trying to pounce, is Liam. And I am Deuce. She didn't mention that she was the alphess just yet. She was waiting for something, though she didn't know what just yet.
Re: Ortesh, prince of light"Those are good names," he said, looking over to the brush for the third. "Looks like you'll have quite a hunter when that one gets older, Liam did you say? Did you choose them names yourself?" He laughed. "Silly me, of course you did, you are their mother after all."
A soft breeze sweft through and he relaxed, letting the cool air wash over him. Deuce. That was her name. He wondered what kind of wolf she was. From all appearences, she appeared strong and kind. But wolves changed with the circumstances. He quickly pushed the thought from his mind. "Ridiculous," he thought. He knew better than to think so little of her or her packmates.
"I think what the pack can do, would depend upon the wolves that it's comprised of," he continued, wagging his tail a little at Gavin. "A pack of cowards cannot offer safety. So tell me, what does a fine wolf like yourself bring to the pack?" He looked away a moment, out across the grassy land. "I'm not saying that you haven't earned your place, because you obviously have; you wouldn't be here if you hadn't. I'm just curious to know, seeing as you would be my new packmate if I'm accepted."
“My place has been in this world since the dawn of time,” he said. “And even after this body is frozen in the eternal wait of death, I will still be here in this world…”
She bowed her head regally in adknowledgement of the compliment of her children, her tail wagging briefly. Thank you.
And I wouldn't just be your packmate, Ortesh, I would be your alphess as well. I bring comfort and stablility to our pack, as well as keeping the peace. She paused a moment, reflecting on the small pack. Not that we have an overlarge pack, though. It is I and the pups, Azizi, and Polgara. And you as well.
She smiled warmly. You shall be our Delta. Our hunter.....Welcome home, Orthesh.
Re: Ortesh, prince of light
He smiled, happy that he had been accepted to the pack. Alphess... It figured though. She looked a strong wolf, and a strong wolf a strong pack would need to survive. Though small at the moment, Ortesh knew the pack would grow in numbers quickly. Packs always tended to do this.
Azizi and Polgara... I'll have to meet them. If they are half what you are, then I've found myself in a worthwhile pack. His voice was kind but sure. Delta... I am happy to have the position.
He bowed his head low once more to her before continuing. But may I ask, what you wish me to do now? Is there something that I am supposed to do?
“My place has been in this world since the dawn of time,” he said. “And even after this body is frozen in the eternal wait of death, I will still be here in this world…”
Re: Ortesh, prince of light
what could he do? Deuce shrugged gracefully, or at least, as gracefully as the pup who suddenly tackled her would allow. She nuzzled Liam lightly before looking back at ortesh. If you wish you could explore your new home. We are rich in food sources, so you could survey those. It is entirely up to you, my friend.
She noticed that Angel was beginning to yawn, and she smiled. Angel tended to tire quickly, but that was okay. The boys would have a bit longer before they too tuckered out, but they would follow soon enough. I must be getting my children home now, Ortesh. You could follow me, or take your own way in. She picked Angl up, and began walking, the two boys falling in step quickly.
Re: Ortesh, prince of light
Ortesh nodded, though Deuce had already turned , with pup in mouth, heading the other way. He felt welcomed, to have her show him the way was more than he could have asked for.
So he loped easily along behind her, watching the two pups keep in step with her obediantly. He thought about what she had said. He certainly would scope out the prey soon. It would be expected of him to know where to find good game for the pack, and he was eager to hunt side by side with the others.
"How far along is the territory?" he inquired, looking around him. Though pups always seemed to have too much energy, it spent quickly... especially on long journeys. But the more he thought about it, it wouldn't have made sense for her to bring them that far from the safety of the packlands. It obviously had to be within a pup's walking distance.
“My place has been in this world since the dawn of time,” he said. “And even after this body is frozen in the eternal wait of death, I will still be here in this world…”
Re: Ortesh, prince of light
As she crossed the river, she heard his question and smiled. Reahing dry land, she set angel down, and answered his question with a smile. This is it. Everything this side of the river. With a laugh she added, It's really more of a large creek, but it's been called the river as long as i've been in this area.
She watched the pups begin the short walk to their nearby dens. Turning to ortesh with a smile, she bid him good day, and slipped into the underbrush after her pups, vanishingh like a ghost into the forest.
