Phones...
Is the only type of phones that we have access to pay phones? Reason being, on my phone cards it has a surcharge of so many minutes if the call is made on a pay phone. Just wondering!

Yeh...I hate those surcharges...:twocents ....one time I wasted an entire card and never talked to anyone....so then I walked 20 miles back to my university in a skirt ...because my car was dead....(yeh that was back in the day when I didn't have a cell phone) :\

Re: Phones...
No, it's like you're making a phone call from the dorm, because, well, you are. There is a phone in each dorm, some in the academic buildings if you look hard enough. So, hopefully, no surcharges. 8)

Re: Phones...
They are indeed all campus phones, which means if you were calling somebody on campus (which I don't see why you would) you would just dial that person's extension. To make a call off-campus, you dial 9 to get an outside line, and then the number as usual, including the 1 and area code if it is a toll free number.

So that means no surcharges? That's nice because killing 35 minutes a call is ridiculous! I can't wait until Governor's School! :woot

Phone
Hey..I was wondering, so there ARE phones in each room hence dorm? Or in the halls, etc?
I was quite confused! ..
Does that mean we do get our own number for incoming calls? Because there are no cell phones allowed, correct??!

Re: Phone
There are NOT phones in each room; there is a phone in each residence hall (aka dorm, ie Lora Robins or South Court) in the lobby of each building.

Also, when we refer to your "hall" we mean the portion of the dorm/residence hall that consist of the rooms that share your RA.

Every classroom has a phone in it, BTW, and their are phones in lobbies and hallways of academic buildings on occasion. Just keep your eyes peeled and you'll find them lurking about.

Re: Phone
Also, you do not get your own phone number. The phone number in the student handbook will be used for everyone. It goes to a a voicemail and we check it multiple times a day. If you have a message left for you, you will get it that day posted on your door and you will be able to call back the same day if you can get to a phone.
