But yes, I have taken a lot longer to handle Mr Portela's announcement than I should have. It's a significantly more complicated document than the one I issued this morning, and all the time I've had off of late has been spent in bed, trying to get over this damned flu...

I may now wait another day or two, I'm afraid. Just until all the gesticulating and name-calling in the Dáil has died off or reached some sort of resolution.
I have no desire to antagonise our newly active Prime Minister, or the staunch leftist sensibilities of Mr Garine, particularly bearing in mind that between them, they represent two thirds of our elected Legislature.
Having said that, there doesn't appear to be a Defence Act forthcoming, and my announcements were intended to bridge the gap (a Defence Act is meaningless during the planning/creation stage), not replace it. As I said, I'm going to wait another day or two.
My apologies again, Mr Portela. I don't mean to lead you on...
