Proposal for a reading
In recent months I've been thinking and having
discussions about modern culture and our historical
predicament. This inspired me to do some online
research related to several aspects of surrealism as
it is perceived and practiced today.

In the days ahead I will be reading and making
comments on several essays from an academic journal
entitled ArtLab23 (no connection to the ArtLab group
that became Magnetic Fields/Blue Feathers). I welcome
anyone with sufficient interest to join me in this.
Sometime in the next few months we can share our
findings and perspectives.

The issue is dedicated to 'Surrealism and the
Cyborg.'

The link is

www.ArtLab23.net/issue1/A...01_web.pdf

There is an HTML version available via a google
search as well.

The essays I will be focusing on are the Preface and
Introduction (p. 1), Cyborg Surrealism (P. 7-9) and
especially Notes on Surrealism and Cyberculture (p.
27-28) . It may be helpful to read Moderator's
Introduction (p.3) and A Brief Overview of Surrealist
Terms (P.3-4).

My own orientation towards this comes from the
angle of surrealist cultural criticism, and from the
perspective of critical thinking and reflection
integrated with concrete action.

Anyone with an interest in this should email me or
reply on the forums this message is posted to.

Thanks,

M.K. Shibek
