Question about Visual Arts
Judging by last year's exhibition photos, it seems that most of the work is going into one large installation. Is this the case? I don't know whether I should expect the opportunity to create one installation piece or if I can create many works that I can put in my portfolio.
Also, I was wondering if figure drawing is offered?

Basically, I would like to know what I should expect to do for a month :)

Thank you.

Re: Question about Visual Arts
I think it depends on which morning section you get into: printmaking, installation, or performance.

However, I could be completely wrong so don't hold me to that. :)

Re: Question about Visual Arts
So are we just assigned or can we pick? Can we do all of them?

You will be introduced to different things and will have some opportunity to choose what types of projects you would like to work on. It is going to be mostly non-traditional since we feel you get enough exposure to traditional art forms in high school.

I'm not going to spoil everything and tell you exactly how it is going to work, though. The faculty was intentionally vague in that course description you received back in May.

YIKES
Oh man, I always do non-traditional stuff. IB does not really teach us technique, just assumes we know it already. My portfolio is already so concept- and experimentation-based and the only "traditional" things I have are pathetic. Bleh :doh

I guess it's a good thing though. I'll enjoy it more. That stuff's waaaay more interesting and fun anyway. I just wish I could have stuff to put in my portfolio after it all :\

...I really wish this sort of thing was covered in the course descriptions. Governor's School is so mysterious I have no idea what I'm getting into. :( I am going to be so lost.

I am not complaining! It sort of sounds like I am, on the internet probably. I am just incredibly nervous and scared out of my mind.

Thank you for the info. :)
