Random Questions
I feel really stupid for starting a whole new topic for one stupid question. Are there little bed side lamps? Like if you woke up early and didn't want to wake your room mate, you could just turn on a little lamp and not disturb them too much? Thanks for putting up with me.

Re: Random Questions
It might be cliché to say so, but there's no such thing as a stupid question.
There's a fluorescent lamp which is part of the desk in your room, but that probably would be somewhat hard to reach from your bed. So, you might want to bring a small clip-on lamp to attach to your headboard. You also might want to bring a small (6 ft) extension cord to make sure your plug will reach. This is the set-up I had last year, and it worked very well.
Better to know now rather than making a rapid run to K-Mart or Target once you arrive! Edited by: Allocentric at: 5/10/06 6:47 pm

Re: Random Questions
I disagree and believe that there is such thing as a stupid question, but the one that you asked was definitely NOT stupid. That is what we are all here for. I just grab the bedside lamp that I have on my nightstand and bring it along. I am all about a reading lamp and not having to get out of bed to turn off my light when I finish reading for the night! If you have something like that, you may save yourself some money.
Another good thing to think of and to convince your parents of, is that most of the stuff that you will buy to stock your rooms at governors school will also be the same stuff you will be buying for Freshman year in college, so you can convince your parents that they are making college purchases in installments instead of all at once!

I'm glad you asked the question about the lamps, i was totally wondering the same thing!
And not to take business away from the local K-Mart or anything, but do the rooms have little trash cans or should we bring those also? Oh, and clothes hangers?
Re: kudos on random questions
On the what not to bring list it says no expensive stereo. I definitely wouldn't call my stereo expensive. I don't think I can last a month without my music and I hate wearing head phones of any kind. Its small and would fit in a corner and I won't turn it up loud at all (I like quiet music) or very often. So is it okay if I bring it? Thanks.
Re: kudos on random questions
Certainly, it's okay to bring a stereo like that. Regarding this particular item, we're trying to deter you from having to think about leaving valuables in the room, since you'll be spending a good chunk of the daytime away from the hall. Plus, you have to consider size... something like a portable system or "shelf" system should be fine, but component stereo systems belong at home.
You might wish to still give headphones a shot. While you might only listen to your music quietly, it doesn't mean your roommate will share your appreciation of the same music... at any volume. Headphones are always the best way to ensure a peaceful coexistence with roomies, and still enjoy your choice in music.

Yes you have a closet and a chest of drawers (usually 5 or 6 drawers). The closets are sometimes the wardrobe kind but usually like a normal closet. And they are plenty big.
