Re-Reading for Clues
I have begun a re-read of OotP. I'm going through, this time, in search of specific clues that might pertain to HBP.

FYI (which I also posted on the HBP forum), the first mention of the Hufflepuff Locket (Regulus' stolen horcrux) is on page 116 of the US edition hardcover.

Quote:
There was a musical box that emitted a faintly sinister, tinkling tune when wound, and they all found themselves becoming curiously weak and sleepy until Ginny had the sense to slam the lid shut; also a heavy locket that none of them could open, a number of ancient seals and, in a dusty box, an Order of Merlin, First Class that had been awarded to Sirius's grandfather for "Services to the Ministry."

I'm on to the trip over to Hogwart's at present...on the Express as they're meeting Luna Lovegood.

Is anyone else going through Year 5 right now?

I feel sad for this poor forum. Ezboard never was able to recover any of our lost posts, here, so all our prior discussions are gone forever.

OotP was not one of my favorites, but I may have to rethink that. I'm enjoying this re-read very much.

Re: Re-Reading for Clues
I've thought a lot about that locket since reading HBP.

I'm betting that locket means something, like perhaps, a horcrux, the one that was taken already.

But then again, my theories for HBP were totally wrong.

Smile, it makes people wonder what you're up to!

Re: Re-Reading for Clues
are you sure that locket is Helga Hufflepuff's? Is any more mentioned of it? I suppose, though, it's unlikely JKR would directly say "Lo and behold!" and tell us straight up. Oh well, I guess that contributes to the fun:p .

I haven't started any new read-throughs or clue-huntings myself, although I'd like to at some point. I'm going to have to read through the ending of GoF for my conference paper, which I need to write...still.

You know, my first time through Order of the Phoenix, I didn't care for it too much (well, in comparison to the other HP books, that is). Harry was so angry through so much of it, and the atmosphere was so dark and downright third reich. That Umbridge character really squashed a lot of the fun out of Hogwarts. I enjoyed the book much more, however, my second time through in preparation for HBP.

Re: Re-Reading for Clues
I just read HP3, HP4, HP5 & HP6 for the first time. :o

Yeah the locket is definitely a Horcrux and Remulus put it there or that's what I think. ;)
