Roma Gather for Revenge against Alleged Skinhead Attack in Sofia

14 August 2007, Tuesday

At least one man was injured late on Tuesday night when a huge mob of Roma people gathered in the Sofia district of Krasna Polyana for a revenge of last night's mass brawl in the district between Roma and skinheads.

A police officer was injured while trying to keep the peace and calm the people, unconfirmed information states.

The mob, consisting of around 200 Roma, including children 10 years of age, are armed with axes, cudgels, pitchforks and stones and are chanting "death for the Bulgarians".

Earlier in the evening, armed Roma have been walking around the district and have threatened to set the whole place on fire, eyewitnesses said for the private bTV channel.

The armed Roma population has already blocked the Rishki Prohod Boulevard and does not allow taxis to pass, Darik News reported.

Police was immediately sent on spot, but their number is not enough, they are not prepared for a clash with the Roma and try to calm the situation and prevent a further riot, a live report of bTV from the place showed.

The police are still investigating the circumstances of the Monday brawl, but Roma witnesses claimed it was retaliation for a brawl the previous night, when 30 skinheads reportedly attacked three Roma teenagers, one of whom was badly beaten. Between 20 and 30 people were involved in the brawl, although witness reports are contradictory, the police said. Four people, all of them Roma, were detained to testify and were released shortly afterwards.

The police should have beaten the @#%$ out of these filthy mongrels,but because our politicians buy the votes of the gypsy scum no one dares to touch them>: I just ask myself what will happen if I as an ethnic Bulgarian and lets say a Bg Turk,one with a knife and the other with an axe decide to block a busy crossroad in Sofia?

Many people, including me, would do the same. But don't waste your energy on that - this is what the politicians want.
I think this is a campaign. From time to time the rulers tell the police not to do anything against the gypsies and they start killing, robbing, raping etc. without punishment, like it was two years ago. After that the politicians order the police to stop them and they stop them fast. It's just for drawing the attention of the people away. Instead of focusing on the real criminals - the politicians, we focus on the gypsies who are nothing more than filthy animals.
"Divide and conquer" is very old principle and was used in many places, in Yugoslavia too, and is being used in Bulgaria too.
